Trey Manthey
I like buying $70 bottles of scotch and feeding it to my friends to keep them away from my $30-40 bottles of bourbon. It seems counterproductive, but to me it's totally worth it.So you have $100 to spend, and you get one $30 bottle of bourbon and one $70 bottle of scotch to draw them off? Why not just get three bottles of bourbon?
Wall Eye
Thanks to the newest Binny's that just opened here Friday - a bottle of Old Pulteney 12 and a Laphroaig QC.
devillighter
I found a bottle of Balvenie Tun 1401 batch 3. I passed on it for now, but I am really tempted. It's at normal retail price and if I'm going to spend $250 on a scotch, it seems like this is as good a scotch as any to do it on. Thoughts/encouragement? I saw this in a local liquor store and considered picking it up. Came back a week later to buy it and it was gone. Now wishing I picked it up when I first saw it! I'd say go for it. If anyone knows a local source for this in MD, I'd appreciate a PM and owe you one .

compliance
Laphroaig quarter cask. I really didn't like this one at first. When I opened the bottle it just tasted like ashes and was way too woody. After a few months in the back of the cabinet the ashyness is gone. It's still smokey and now there is some sweetness poking through. It's gotten a lot more enjoyable, which is to say, it is now enjoyable!
compliance
Spent last night going through K&L's 2012 whiskey program releases. I haven't had anything from any of the distilleries other than the islay ones, but I'm trying to branch out so I took islay off the table. Decided to go with the 20 year old Longmorn. Anyone else buying any of these single barrels? How about that Port Ellen?

LostBottle
A few days back I picked up a Balvenie Tun 1401 (Batch #3) and Ardbeg Alligator. I tend to heavily favor the Islays, but that Balvenie is something else!

RVTsteve
Found a store with good prices kind of far from my house so I loaded up a bit. I grabbed a Glenfarclas 12, Caol Ila Distiller's Edition, and a Lagavulin 16, also got a Macallan 12 that came with a free mini of the 18. I think they call this "self gifting". You may want to call and have them look at the label on the bottle to ensure it is not a Batch #6.

DaveOfAtl
Picked up an Ardbeg 10 year, which I've never tried. I've been hearing so much about all of the Ardbeg limited releases, but I figured I should start with the standard expression first.
