no bourbon for me last night...we had poker at the house so I drank Gentleman Jack and Diet all night...;)

In case anyone was wondering I won both hold'em games last night! :D Now I can buy some bourbon today! ;)

I've been so stinkin busy at work, I get home and am too tired to drink and just hit the sack. First I was stuck in a funk and didn't want bourbon, and now I have no time to drink. I'm off tomorrow so tonight I'll indulge as well as tomorrow.

George T. Stagg hit Wichita (at least one store, anyway) for 47.99! I told one of my clerks at work, and he had to show me up by going to buy a bottle before I could get down there (thankfully they are holding one for me). He was nice enough to give me a 50ML sample bottle- this stuff is incredible!

Still not in KC! Might have to send my aunt on another run!:hot:

After a 10 hr day of being on my feet, I'm bushed. The remedy is an '82 Old Fitz and a Sancho Panza. Sitting on the front porch, laptop in hand scanning SB.com. Sweet!

Awesome examples of "vintage" bourbon. I've had each of those bourbons and they are wonderful pours.

Greg-- Thanks! (One of the things to inspire me to transfer them all was drooling over the slideshow pix in your blog!)

Continuing to move from ceramic to glass and of course sampling along the way -- 3 Old Fitz BIB from 1970-75, and 3 Old Fitz Prime from 1970-71 (plus another 1968 Old Taylor castle.) Here's a pic of the progress today:

Hows the cork flavor? I have began to skip older bourbons with corks due to the cork taste....

And the Old Crow is 10yr, 86 proof.... a great pour...

Tonight for me it has been some samples from teh Great Oscar.EC 12 yr - best I have had to date, and FR 2008 version cask... very, very good. If the ones I tasted would have been like this versiion, I would have bought a bunch of them...

THnaking about a WT 8yr pour to end the long day

Started the grill with a couple of porterhouse cuts and a couple fingers of Jefferson Pres 17yr.

Ended the evening with a fistful of 09 Stagg and missing the game :smiley_acbt:

Tonight for me it has been some samples from teh Great Oscar.EC 12 yr - best I have had to date

Iv'e picked up two EC12 since that bottle, while good none was as good as that one.

Over the last two years I have gone thru three bottle of Parker's Heritage, two '07 and one '08, I think it has made me appreciate and understand EC12 more.

I haven't had any EC18 for a long time and I think I'll have to get one soon.

so bumbed that I couldn't make the Chicago Binny's meet that I drowned away my sorrows in some JRPS and ER17...I would give the edge to the JRPS...SW does make some fantastic stuff!

Did a comparison of the new bottle of OWA vs. a single barrel version (old label) done for Cork and Bottle in Newport, KY. The Cork and Bottle version won. It was a touch smoother with a little more vanilla showing through.

The new bottling of OWA is good. I haven't compared it to the standard old label bottling of OWA yet but from what I remember the new bottling has a little more body than the most recent old label that I have had.

Then as a reward for my 'hard work' on the comparison I had a pour from a 1968 Old Fitz BIB.

Two of the 16 that I decanted this weekend were less awesome than the others but not "tainted" to my palate. Even the less tasty ones had incredible noses -- I still wish I knew what is the key difference between then and now (mashbill? distilling proof? yeast?)

If you are talking cork, I think it is temp cycles... just like the barrel, if you cycle the temp you get more into and out of the cork.... for a barrel that is a great thing, for a cork, .... err... not so good.

Last night, I cracked a Four Roses 40th. Man it is tasty !!!:grin: my last bottle was less that stellar, so I was hesitant to open this one. Glad I did.

Currently, I am sipping a vatting of WTRB 1999 and IW Harper 15. The mix is way better than its respective solo parts !!!

Baby Saz has returned to NH so I snagged a couple bottles today. We get a limited supply and the dry spells are frequent.

Having a great big pour now, fantastic stuff.

I did have WTRR 101 and Handy 2008 before going out to an Indian restaurant for dinner. Both tasted very good. My lady partner had one Handy as well and she really liked it. The appetite was on top and the food was good (witch is hard to find in my small town) and the potions very big witch resulted in the fact that I did overeat. Problem was that I was drained out of fernet branca at home. Fortunately I found some 2 cl bottles of Underberg home that saved me this time. A real relief when the herbs let the pressure from the stomach.

Ended my business travel-imposed bourbon fast with: GTS, PVW15, and PHC 2007.

Late 80's OT 86 proof! If you dig butterscotch you really need to try some old school Old Taylor! This pour was from a small 200ml bottle and the poor thing may not make it through the evening!

A nice rocks pour of Buffalo Trace with a couple of cherries thrown in for fun after shooting a 618. This is my favorite after bowling treat.
