Made a batch of my "almost famous" chili today. Chili, football, and now I'm going to settle in with a nice pour of 08 GTS. Don't git no better than that Vern. Joe

Dats a beautiful thing.

I'm watching football and began the afternoon with some Beam Black, and now taking a swig on the sweeter side with some of Laird's 7 1/2 y/o apple brandy. Loverly light stuff. The BiB is a little bolder, but both are great pours, like apple whiskeys.

Black Beam 1982 and OC 12 before dinner and ORVW 15 and the last out of the OC bottle after. The wheater was outstanding but I was also amazed how oxidation has improved the OC over time.

Spent the day moving furniture, fixing computers and not getting a Sunday nap in. My reward for being useful on a Sunday......'78 Benchmark.

Having some WT 101 ( I know who would have guessed) I opened this bottle Saturday night. I poured a a glass and drank a few sips from it and it tasted bad so I poured it out. I'm trying it again this morning doesn't taste bad enough to pour out but this bottle is definitely off. It smells different too. The cork doesn't look bad. Any Ideas?

Maybe you're getting bored with it . . . try drinking something else for a change.

No doubt.

It seems very weird that there would be an "off" bottle of something like WT101 which must be dumped in huge batches.

My only guesses would be the cork (like you suggested), your palate (like what you ate or drank that day) or maybe because you're so accustomed to the flavor of that particular bourbon, you're extra sensitive to variations in it and are able to pick up on those nuances.

a bunch of turkeys tonight. WTKS 04, early 07, and RR101. At first I really didn't care for the 07KS, it has a somewhat almondy character (has something to do with the oak influence) that is really strange. however, It's growing on me a bit. the 04KS might be the best of the bunch, although it is more subtle maply than the RR101, which is very vibrant stuff.

The 04s I've had have been kind of "meh" to me, but that's how the single barrel roulette goes. I don't know if I've ever purchased an 07 or later. From the sips I've had of the recent ones, they don't really do much for me. I'd much rather have a RB or make a run for the border to get an 8 y/o.

But I'm willing to give them another shot. Especially if folks think they are improving.

I bought the WT 101 at my usual store, I haven't cracked open a EWB for long time don't know why just haven't. I'm drinking this WT again this morning and it still taste off not as bad as the night I first opened the bottle but off.

Bought some Wathens and Old Fitzgerald 12 yr old...Will be having both of those tonight.

The Wathen's is very nice. Good value. The VSOF12 is also good but I find it a bit "thin" and missing too much body that would make it great. I'd love to try a barrel proof of that stuff!

I had a pour or two of OF Repeal...I have to say that for $12 for a 375ml and a GC glass it's a pretty good deal! I'm happy that I picked up a couple when I had the chance! :)

I have to say the same since I went cheap the last couple of nights, VOB yesterday and FC tonight. Maybe not the best, but I do like them.
