SMOWK
Finishing the rest of a few bottles tonight before heading out for a week in the Outer Banks. OWA-NAS, VOB-BIB, Willet Funky Bottle, & Bernheim Wheat.I've got a box packed and ready with VWFRR, WLW09, PVW15, RittBIB, Chalfonte VSOP Cognac for the lady, Chimay Grande Reserve Magnum, and a bottle of Carmenere wine that my girl's brother made a few years ago. I've been hanging onto it to see how it aged. He had quite a few cases, all gone. My lonely bottle hang out in the back of the bunker with a lot of good friends from Kentucky for 2, maybe 3 years....We'll see how it aged.... DeanSheen
" VWFRR, WLW09, PVW15, RittBIB,"Well yes, I think that would do for the week. Now what are your friends going to drink?
nor02lei
As the very hot summer whether continuo here I did pop up the 25year old rum I brought back from the Houston gathering in May before outdoors grilling. Both me and Yvonne liked it a lot and it goes well with hot whether. We did have JDSS with the grilled bananas with chocolate souse and ice cream for dessert. It never stops to amaze me how good this whiskey is with desserts and how it lifts up the dessert and itself it the combination. Leif

nor02lei
It’s hot, hot and hot here for Swedish conditions. On a tip from another member of Borlänge bourbon boys I did put in a bottle of OGD 114 in the refrigerator over night. Yesterday on the hottest day of the summer so far, Yvonne and me had it over ice cubes before an outdoor tapas/sherry dinner. No nose to talk about, but it worked out well with a bit sweeter taste than normal but very refreshing indeed in the hot whether. After dinner I had a pappy 15 (partly with hazelnut cake) that reminded me a lot of the latest WLW. nor02lei
Still hot here today and I did have OGD 114 over ice again today + some normal served before dinner. Then ORVW 10/107 from 2002 with the hazelnut cake for dessert.Leif

nor02lei
We had a board meeting in our local bourbon club BBB and retasted some leftovers from the last event http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5792&page=3. The brand that won the voting (Rittenhouse 23) had not stood up against the 2,5 month oxidation with only a few cl left in the bottle and it tasted very minty and thin with a bitter finish.Just now I have some EC 12 that taste good.Leif
ggilbertva
Poured an '83 Old Forester 86 pf. I think oxidation has started to set in. Not so much that it's still not enjoyable but I've noticed a slight change in the profile. Good thing the handle is 95% empty.
