I'm enjoying some Kahn's select Buffalo Trace on the rocks. It reminds me of camping. A nice toasted marshmellow thing going on here.

Sipping some OWA NAS, a Cork 'n Bottle Single Barrel. I'm willing to bet a large sum of money this stuff is unchillfiltered, it's phenomenal.

"I was surprised that the FR 120th barrel 1-L came out on top. I held a FR tasting sometime ago and that bottle won out of 5 different recipes."

I love that stuff. Sweet vindication. Only 3 more bottles in the bunker. I killed one this weekend.

I'm having a very tasty, crisp martini made from Ransome Old Tom Gin.

Good for you, you got some Ransome. Where at?

I'm sipping Willetts Reid & Emerald XVII-2, neat.

Enjoying some late 80s WSR that was kindly sent to me by BBQ+Bourbon. THANKS! Compared to the current stuff, I see the similarities, but this older one is a bit better.

Don't freak out on me, but just arrived home with a 6 pack of Blenheim ginger ale! a local store carries it now :cool: . So I made a cocktail, maybe the best I've ever had;

(2) dashes each Angostura and Peychaud's bitters over 3 icecubes.

2 to 3 oz. Rittenhouse 21 yr old Rye

and filled the rocks glass up with the Blenheim original ginger ale!

The bitters really add depth to the drink while the age shines thru from the Ritt with nice barrel notes and a little char. The Ginger ale kicks everything in the ass with it's spice and robust flavor! Truly a great sipper on such a warm day!

Cheers!

Tony

I've since moved on to OGD114, RittBIB, and Buffalo Trace.

Ritt BIB is hitting the spot. I think it's time for some '09 Handy.

It is actually the pick cap, the original (non-diet) the red is the hot and I have not found it here as of yet. If I do find the hot (red) I will be sure to try it!

A few fingers of some Old Crow from the Chess Set.... dark as used motor oil, very soft to the palate with dark caramel hints. Delicious!! Thanks Em..

Really fabulous pour of OGD114 last night while watching football. Sometimes the ol' sauce really hits the spot and last night was one of those occasions. Full-bodied, great aroma, long finish, etc. Who could ask for more?

Not to sound like a broken record but, I'm having this again and killed my Ritt 21 yr old, really an amazing drink. Tim (TNBourbon) said it best "If you're going to make a cocktail start with quality ingredients!"

Thanks Tim

Cheers!

I'll have to try that Tony, although I will place a gloss on Tim's statement by saying that a poor quality (or young, really) bourbon or rye also can make an excellent cocktail. It's the middle shelf stuff that doesn't work. :)

Sipping now a grappa called Acquavite Di Bricco Battistina, 1986 vintage. It was bottled in the mid-90's and has a light yellow tint.

It has the typical flavours of grappa - earthy, leather, anise - but wreathed with light oak which kind of brings it all together. Perfect digestive to a vigorous dinner of curry beef and India Pale Ale.
