Seagram Benchmark, which Tony kindly gave me during the recent KBF (thanks a million again for that Tony). This has the trademark dark rum-like notes of Benchmark but is unusually assertive in character with a big spicy note, cinnamon-like. Great stuff and a taste of history.

Had a pour of VWFRR last night for the first time in about 3 months...I don't know why I don't pull out that pour more often...I see if everyday but I always pass...need to change that soon as it's an incredible pour!

I followed that up with a WT 8yr 101 from 1988...man they sure don't make it like they used to...wish this stuff was still around!

With the rarity of that stuff, I think we all tend to drink it slow.

First pour since the weekend, '78 WT 86.8.

I recently picked up a '79 of this. What are your thoughts? It may be a while before I crack this one open as it is the only one I have for now.

OGD 114. After reading about it earlier, I was inspired to give it a go tonight.

On a tangent of sorts, doesn't Fall/Autumn officially begin today? There was a slight breeze today in central Florida...

R&E 17/1-3 and some WSR from the 80s. The Weller the 80s at $15 1/2 gal was the best value

Too bad it wasn't a Reid only bottling. I think that Emerald just mucks up the works in the barrel selection department. :slappin:

Bowling night tonight. We drank what we brought. AAA 10 yr, AA BIB, Binny's Weller 12, and some SW Weller SR. Good times with Gary and the rest of the team. Joe

This could be the truth.... but it all tastes good to me

I had 90 proof Bulleit and Blantons silver before dinner last night. A bit too much potato gratin forced me to a Fernet branca after.

Joe, just curious of what type of scores you bowl with a line up of great bourbons like this on hand.......   I would be challenged just to keep the ball in the correct alley.......

Last evening started with a small pour of Jeff 17 #2.... decent pour but a bit $$$... wish this was a 107.....

Followed up with a Weller 12 which for under $20 remains one of the bourbon worlds crown jewels...

Really terrific. Great flavor profile, full mouthfeel and good viscosity, which is somewhat surprising considering the proof. If you like the older Turkey's, this one will not disappoint.

OFBB 2010.... I am really missing something here... thin mouth feel, not much going on in the mid-range, smokey undertones, bitter/woody finish, very one dimensional......this one is going to be on the shelf for a long time unless a few friends really like it.....

I've been thinking the same thing. I've had a pour three nights in a row now, and I've yet to get excited.

Knob Creek for me. Not liking it as much as I used to, and wishing I bought Scotch instead. Maybe it tastes off because I am sick. It's not terrible but seems rather harsh and oily.

You do know that it's a Brown-Forman product, right?

Jack Daniels, Old Forester & Woodford Reserve are just different branches from the same tree.

Sorry that you're sick Mega. Grab your nearest bottle of Ardbeg, head on back to the Foreign Whiskey threads where things are nice and comfy, and rest easy.

My church choir pops concert is tomorrow and Saturday. Tonight was the dress rehersal and there were only 2 sopranos so I had to sing soprano (sightreading all the music, not very hard for the sop part), but my throat is quite scratchy now. The only cure: American Honey!

ETL 90th...I wish I had more of these bunkered as this bottle has definitely gotten better as the level has gone down! :(

I came down with a stomach bug last Friday night to go along with a cold already in progress. I decided last night to ease myself back with just a 15 ml pour of Lot B and it was harsh, grainy and way resiny. It was weird how off it was from what it is. My small pours tonight of EWSB and ND Old Taylor fared better but I'm still a few clicks away from normal calibration.
