OBSQ and OESF from Party source, WT 8 and a 86 proof JD motive bottle. All tasted relatively good, but the OBSQ found the spot best this evening.

WTRye101 while kids are running around my house decorating x-mas cookies.

That'll help you keep your sanity. :) My day for the kid's cookie decorating is Tuesday. Working on my bourbon line-up, now.... But, today, I'm starting off with ER 101.

In the Christmas spirit so I decided to get some spirit in me while wrapping Christmas presents.

I opened up a bottle of Four Roses 1B LE Jim Rutledge 40th Anniversary 104.6 proof, 13 1/2 year old.

The 40th is one of the best FR releases! :yum:

for what it's worth, i have seen a b767 with the wax and i have a b1153 without. so, if they are bottled sequentially, i have narrowed it down to within a couple hundred bottles. If not, back to the drawing board.

edit: just saw an "A" with the foil. back to the drawing board.

What's the number on that Pappy bottle? They don't put wax on them anymore. Does anyone know when they stopped?

Have you tasted The Party Source's OESO selection, by any chance?

I have not but another SB.com'er here has and he didn't like it.

We have similar taste.

Interesting, I'm curious if he/she feels the same way as you about the Binny's selection? I have the Binny's OBSK and OBSO. I haven't opened the OBSO but think the OBSK is fantastic. I never got to taste the 40th Anniversary, so you might have convinced me to consider setting up a Binny's order.

I have the Party Source OESO and it is an underwhelming bottle. There's just not much going on there.

As are most of the PS bottles.

Except this one, it's a great private bottling of VOB at barrel proof and 3 y/o...

Oh, wait the bottle says Willet. Nevermind.

Hate to pile on here but I can say that my tastes do not run along the same lines as whomever does the PS Selections.

YMMV

Not to say I wouldn't have a different experience with some of their bottlings, but the overwhelming dissatisfaction there seems to be towards their barrel picks is a shame considering they have so many availlable.

In an effort to thin out the herd, I had pours of Corner Creek and Rowan's Creek while watching the Giants blow their game against the Eagles but then enjoyed watching the Jets hold on to beat the Steelers in a down-to-the-wire thriller. You win some, you lose some.

Nipping at what is hitting me as a perfect pour for the Season. 2010 Saz 18. It's flavors scream spice, cake, cinnamon, and fruit. A dab of honey, too.

Count me in as one who has not punched a ticket on the "Saz 18 is 'tired' after these years in the tank" bandwagon. This is still a spectacular and vibrant rye whiskey. Simply, delicious. :yum:
