a big ol fire in the outdoor fireplace, a CAO La Traviata, and a healthy pour of Weller Centennial. Drop-ins are welcome.

Cheers!

no. i drink it neat like in the glass. but occasionally i chase it to refresh the palate. usually i drink water for that purpose though cause i rarely have soda in the house.

nice avatar. what does pappy 23 cost around your way? picked up this bottle from the county for 150.

Pappy 23 is $219 at Binny's...way too rich for my blood! I'd much rather have 4 Pappy 15's over a single Pappy 23 as I found it too dry for my liking. I'm trying to finish off some bottles that have been open for a while so i'm having a pour of Woodford Reserve tonight. I good mid shelf bottle but not worth the $32-$34 that they are asking for it IMO.

First off to stay on topic, I spent the evening with my Old Grand Dad. (114) and we drank some Weller Antique 107.

As far as Woodford goes, it's a very pretty distillery and a nice distillery tour. The whiskey is quite good when I get it for under $30 but the flavor degrades after I pay more than that

I feel the same about Woodford Reserve. It's actually quite a nice pour and I thoroughly enjoy it from time to time but I won't be in any hurry to buy another bottle at $32 when I can get better for a similar price.

There are definitely plenty of bourbons that if forced to make a decision, I'd choose over WR for the price. But, while it took me some time to come around, I do thoroughly enjoy a pour of it now. The nose is wholly unique to me and the taste mirrors the nose, which for me in this case, is a good thing. I don't find it to be incredibly complex or challenging, but it is incredibly satisfying. I have yet to come across a bad bottle. I don't mind paying $30 for it, although it's not a price that makes me want to buy it consistently.

Woodford Reserve Masters Collection - Sweet Mash.:slappin: It is on its way out and I'm gonna miss it until I open the Eagle Rare 17 year old. What has not been doing it for me is a Binny's Select Cask Buffalo Trace. I should have tried the vanilla envelope BT.:skep:

Woodford Reserve, OFBB 2002, PHC 2010 127.8, PHC 2010 124.2, Willet R/E 17yr #2

The PHC's were hitting the spot last night...I really really like that bottling! The only problem that I see with them is that they're too easy to drink and the bottles contents disappear too quickly...they should make bigger bottles!;)

Hmmm, must be a MI thang.

In the above quote substitute church for work and WTKS for ER101.

Went to a rye tasting at the PS last night. Followed it with a couple of pours of Ritt BiB when I got hme.

A light snow falling here in Dixie, too. A big butterscotchy Ezra B 15 is taking the chill off. :yum:

VWSR Lot B, neat.

This is a hot bottle.

I'm not sure but I traced it down and the closest I can come to placing it is Autumn '07 or Spring '08 release.

The first swirl from my sniftner made me lay it down for a while, after about 20 minutes it calmed down and became drinkable.

What's the number on that Pappy bottle? They don't put wax on them anymore. Does anyone know when they stopped?

Tonight I had my usual rocks pour of BT with a couple of cherries tossed in after bowling. It tasted extra special good after we took two of three games to win the first half title.

While catching up on some year-end work (aka...shtuff I should have done months ago :D), and Christmas music in the background, I'm enjoying a light pour of SB.Com Barrel Selection Pappy 23. All's good.
