Sam Houston Bourbon Batch #47 - it was $38 and I thought that might be high. I haven't seen much discussion of it on SB.com, so I passed.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed from '99.

A bottle of imperial with a faux tax stamp that proudly claimed to be 70% grain alcohol.

An EWSB 1999 for $33. The 1999 didn't get much love and I can get this year's for $27 and some change.

I was out of town today so stopped by every (6!) liquor store in that area. Absolutely nothing! They were mostly the converted gas station type with all the whiskey behind the counter. Everything was expensive and I can get it all here. The only thing I found was that EWSB. Pretty glad I didn't because I got a lead on some VW stuff! Thanks again Wainwright.

Left a Four Roses Small Batch on the shelf for $32.99, as well as an OGD144 @ $29.99. Will have to keep checking around for those two though.

This week I've again passed by the Jeff's Presidential Select 18yo. I still have a bottle of 17yo and just can't seem to get myself to shell out the cash for the 18yo just yet. When my local liquor emporium drops down to two or thee bottles I'll finally have to break down and get one, though.

I also keep passing by the Woodford Reserve Maple and Sweet Mash. I still have some Four Grain (which I love) left and I'm trying to get through the Sonoma-Cutrer finish, so the thought off buying the Maple or Sweet Mash for more than $100 each just doesn't set well. I need to do a bit more research before picking up either.

I think you made the right decision on passing all of those. There was a sale of JRPS 17 a few months ago at $60/bottle. I haven't touched mine in a year or so....

If it has a 10yr statement on it, I think mine are on a hang tag, then I say get it. Those older 10 yr stated ones are tasty and hard to find.

Just passed on a bottle of W.L. Weller 12. Is this expression considered a "dusty"?. Does it differ much from the Weller 7 - Special Reserve?

You know, I can't remember - I'll go back and check. It is an out of the way store, and they also had Baker's for $39, which is about the lowest price I've seen in this area. Thanks for the tip!

Most probably not a dusty, but most probably very tasty.

I'm not Weller literate enough to say how different it is from the SR, but Weller 12 is one of my daily pours. At $22 out the door, I'm very happy with it.

I spent the better part of a weekend looking for Weller 12 in KY and So IN, with no luck. Did you find W12 in VA?

Haven't looked high and low yet in VA but found an online source.

Passed on bottles of WTAS and WT Tradition. Are these worth the asking price, $100 and $115 respectively? Would I be better served by picking up a bottle of WTKS (dark top from '06) and either RHF or ETL and OWA for about the same price?

Nope. I think I am in the minority with my disdain of Tradition, IMHO the oak was too forward and too prominent. Also probably in the minority in that I thnk American Spirit is very good and the bottle seems to just improve as time goes by; however that price is high.

This week I passed on a 2010 WLW and a PVW 15. The price was just too steep and the bunker is not wanting for more.

Passed on 2010 Handy, WT Tradition (which I have yet to become aquainted with) I am going to look on here, but indications are I should just try someone elses rather than pay for it?? Pappy 23 ($200), and Weller Antique (Which I have been wanting to try). Oh and some BT experimental which I didnt even look at because my hands were already full.

Convinced the owner to look into the single oak thing promiseing that I would try some.

I'm right there with you on both points.

I've been too much of a whoss to pop one of my WTAS yet but while I thought Tradition was ok I still think older WTKS is the best Turkey I've had yet.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I think I'll grab the WTKS and another bottle or two now and perhaps go back for the American Spirit later on, as there were at least 3 on the shelf.

That reminds me, there were also a few bottle of Ritt 25 on the shelf...$250 though. I passed as well.

I've found both 40% and 45% ABV Weller 12yo. Which ABV are you looking for?

Anyone out there in SB-land have any experience with either of these W.L.Weller's expressions? I'm thinking the 45% bottle is the more celebrated find?
