Virginia Gentleman, NAS, 40%. Everything about it is just a bit less so, nose, taste, body, after tones, sort of Bourbon writ small, good balance though.

The last tortured pour from a slope shouldered OCPR that was open too long.

Moving to Henry McKenna, looking for something bolder to follow the Virginia Gentleman and this choice fits the bill.

Old Crow Reserve, a pleasant surprise here, light color, good viscosity and body, clean medium flavor, some sharpness around the edges, more depth than I was expecting, not bad for a youngish four year old.

Just going with an after dinner pour of Early Times 354 Bourbon. The Jack Daniel'sishness banana thing is jumping out at me, again. It's light, and certainly not a challenging whiskey. The fruitiness has me thinking this might be a very nice Summer pour. For a low cost, 80 proof, but, drinkable bourbon...this ain't bad.

4R Yellow Label again tonight. :yum:

Well I couldn't stop there and ended up having some BT after reading a fellow SBer's blog review of it today. I must say, it tasted great after the 4RYL.

I'm new here and haven't read this thread too much yet. My first bottle of Bourbon since developing a taste for whiskey a couple of months ago was Makers Mark. I liked it OK but read bad reviews on it. Tonight my second bottle of bourbon is Wild Turkey 101. I started off drinking it neat and enjoyed it ok but felt that it would probably last me all night, so I put some ice cubes in it. Very good that way. I was previously drinking the Makers Mark with ice cubes and water and I liked it that way but I am trying to drink it a little closer to neat so that I can discover the intricacies in the flavors of different bourbons that I try.

I also found that I like the smoky flavor of scotch.

Tonight I am starting out with Four Roses Small Batch and may finish the evening with a pour of Eagle Rare 10.

I did have Beam 6 grains before dinner yesterday, ORVW 10/107 2002 with the hazelnut cake for dessert and OGD 114 as a night cap. All tasted good, but a bit surprising the wheater came out a bit short this evening.

Welcome! And don't worry about reviews. You like what you like! I only use reviews on here if A. It's from someone who has similar tastes to mine or B. if it's something new or expensive that I am considering buying.

Anyway, I'm current enjoying som 10 y/o EW 1789. It's like a grassier EC 12. Pretty good.

Made a trip down to the bunker and came back up with a Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit 2-13-01 pewter top and an Old Rip Van Winkle 10/107.

Sipping on the WTKS now, yes I am giving thanks on what is now a Turkey Day.

Also Opening Day, currently a 3-3 tie.

That would be DET @ NY.

Rittenhouse BIB, it has been nearly 20 years since our last visit. The beginning is auspicious, very promising.

We assembled the fellas tonight on short notice...

My best friend's sister passed away at age 38, very sad and unexpected.

We all tried to make him feel at little better and it was good conversation.

I brought the '09 BTAC with me. We ended up have pours of ER17, WLW and GTS.

RIP Meg, we'll all miss you.
