Just got home from work, having a short pour EBSB '05.. probably have another short pour of EWSB '97 then out to have boys night out with one of my sons and my 2 brothers. Celebrating the youngest son's full time employment with a local PD. Good, full time employment for municipal PD' s in this area are very hard to come by with the current economy , God is definitely looking out for this family ..Good Bourbon, good job :cool:

Just opened a 2011 WLW .I liked it a lot.It is very close in flavor to the 2010.

Started off the evening with a couple pours of RB&F 1792 and (with an hour or so in between) moved on to a small pour of an 18 y/o Willett wheater. Now I'm sipping on a vatting of Weller 12 and WLW 2009.

Agree. Still my favorite of them with one open and 2 left in the bunker. The only thing that detracts a bit at times is a spearmint note which I'm not always in the mood for.

Nice! Heavy rye to heavy wheat - brings out the best in both. I had my first Blanton's tonight. Tasted like a richer Buffalo Trace but I can't justify buying a bottle, considering how much it costs.

Domaine de Papolle Hors D'Age, no it's not a bourbon, it's an Armagnac (brandy from the French south, made in column stills and aged in well-toasted barrels). I mention it here since it struck me how bourbon-like this was. Its grape origins are not hidden but half the palate reminds very much of bourbon with the toasted barrel notes, even charcoal-like, quite prominent. The brandy is super-smooth and soft, "fat" as the label properly says. Very nice and it reminds me in particular of certain bourbons from the 1970's, notably that square bottle Beam's Choice Doug Philips has. A nice change and it makes me think again that perhaps, as some theorize, bourbon did originate as a Cognac/Armagnac substitute.

I'm starting off on what is going to be a short night, with a BHC Louisville Weller Centennial. Wonderfully soft for a 100 proof whiskey. Wheat done right.

Tried a sample of Woodstone Creek Barrel #1... really not sure if I like it or not. If it had not said bourbon on the label, I probably would not have guessed it was a bourbon... I also have a sample of their single malt, but I will try that another night.

An absolutely STUNNING 17y Willett. Massive, massive, MASSIVE cherry notes, great balanced wood, near perfect sweetness. 72% ABV and it's easy drinking. A pity I've only got 6 oz...

Pours of Premier Group Weller Cent 2004 and Louisville Weller Cent...IMO the later has a much sweeter entry and more complexity throughout.

For a multitude of reasons I reached back into the dark recesses of the bunker and pulled out a sealed '85 Old Fitz BIB to open. All is now right with the world and the '08 OWA is a worthy successor too.

Eagle Rare has been my most consistent pour. Love it more each time. Simple, affordable and good.
