I was in a sampling mood tonight. I had small pours of BMH23, VR21, Willett SB 11yr, 2012 WLW, and JPS17.

It has been hard not breaking into one of my VW ryes, but I have WAY too many open bottles right now.

Mmm. Sunday and football-watching.

I started with the last pour of a bottle of EC 18 that was lurking in the back of the bar cabinet. BLECH! Something bad happened to it. YUK!

I opened up a bottle of OFBB 2011 to see if I wanted something non-Four Roses. Um, nope. I'll have to come back to it later.

I opened up a bottle of private-label 4R1B OESO from Julio's Liquors... Ahh, perfect way to watch the Cowboys/Eagles scorefest.

Over the weekend: Maker's Mark 46, didn't really float my boat. I guess I was expecting something more out of it. Last night, Four Roses Yellow label, this bottle gets my vote for best bourbon under $20. (That I have had.)

Long, but fairly decent day at work today. Kicking back with a nice pour of Weller 12 to unwind. :yum: Looks like more of the same tomorrow.

With all the recent chatter about it, I'm also having some Weller 12. Mighty fine Bourbon!:toast:

Started out the evening with a blend of '11 WLW and OWA while taking in the season finale of Walking Dead. Followed that with VOB BIB and some TPS FRSB. I'm feeling spoiled.

Willett 8 yr old, which I'm liking more than the 21 yr old.

lots of flavor, despite relatively high proof

Have ya tried it side-by-side with regular makers?

No BB I haven't, but I have drunk a fair amount of MM & liked it well enough. When I am in a bar I usually try a bourbon I haven't had to see if I would spring for a bottle. In this case I think I will pass on the MM 46. If another opportunity to try it presents itself, I will give it another go. Maybe it was the short pour from the bottom of the bottle that prejudiced me against it.

Is that a recent Binny's 8 year? If so, it is an amazing bourbon. Rumor has it the Binny's 8 is a Buffalo Trace wheater from the Pappy stock. If it is, give it a week to get some air - it really opens up after a week or so.

Are all (or most) the recent 8yr Willett SB's wheaters? I recently sourced some bottles locally that were from barrels 7xx and it is mighty tasty.

Started with EC 12.

Now enjoying VOB BIB. I'm really digging this stuff, wish I could get it in SoCal. Oh well, TPS & FedEx need my business.

Delving more deeply into the GBS EC15. I'm really digging this selection.

Bravo.

Tonight I am enjoying a few pours of my Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, and getting ready for the SOA finale. I love this bourbon! It was a gift from my lovely gal this year
