Fernet-Branca and coffee at Von’s 1000 Spirits in Seattle. I killed off their last Littlemill and Tormore, so there may be a name change in order.

Restock. Not sure how Amazon gets away with selling 44% ABV digestif spirits-- but you can't beat the price.

Because it is not a spirit, it is medicine!  ?

Of course bourbon was "medicine" during prohibition (although it required a prescription). So maybe it could be sold as medicine too...

POX-- why not? Can't get much cooler in terms of pack, and the liquid has an interesting “white dog humping clairin" essence about it. I'm sure the cask-aged variants will be on the market in a couple of years.

Never heard of pox before - per Google sounds sounds like an interesting mashup of rum, and whisky. Will keep an eye out!

Certainly an unusual one. I picked one up a while back. Interesting for sure but not one I have felt a strong need to go back to very often. Maybe it is time to revisit it!

Fernet-Branca and coffee to cap off a great dinner in New Orleans. A much needed mini-dose of normalcy.

Reading about your coffee and Fernet combo provides us with a sense of normalcy!

What is your routine with this, take a sip of one and then the other? If so does the order matter?

Fernet first followed by the coffee— although during a recent meal in Louisville she doctored the coffee with the the F-B, which didn’t cut it.

Hopefully I can treat you to a round in the near future.

You inspired me.

I have to say I’m not a big fan but I don’t like black licorice.  Is Fernet like this?

I’m glad you tried it. Fernet is certainly in the same bitter neighborhood, but not as concentrated. On weekend mornings I typically drink a 2:1 Fernet-Branca / Underberg cocktail with my coffee.

I’m kicking off from work a little early today and getting in some relaxing time before dinner with my ladies.

And yet again to cap off a truly memorable dining experience... only this one has a Booker’s in the middle for a sentimental touch.

Whoa there you're going off script! What's the order for this combo? Fernet, Booker's, coffee?

Booker’s, Branca and finally coffee. The bitterness of the F-B is a night-ender from a palate standpoint.
