WhistlePig Boss Hog. I figured it was worth paying for overpriced, yet supposedly really good, barrel proof rye since all I have in that category is THH and wanted to try something older.

wait. you had a whole lot of stagg and then u went to a bar to have some japanese whiskey?

I mix it up, went into the bar to see a couple friends after that initial pour of Stagg, and when there are new whiskies I haven't tasted sitting there, I'm going to ask to try them, regardless of whether I'm jumping from bourbon to single malt. After the two Japanese, I also had OFBB2013 and WFE 12 yo, along with more Stagg. Last night was more Stagg, a freshly popped Saz18, and then a vatting 1:1 of Stagg and Saz18 that was VERY successful. I'm just drinking the stuff and trying to figure it out later.

Came upon some Bowman Last Millennium unexpectedly. Bought one and left a couple on the shelf. PM me if any Atlanta area members are interested. No idea how long they might stay there.

Decided to try the Wild Turkey Spiced this Thanksgiving. For $21 with a $3 mail in rebate I figure worth a try.

Best regards, Tony

Tony, I bought a bottle of that on a whim myself, a week or so ago, for Thanksgiving. I tried a little at the time, and have to admit it's not bad. Flavored whiskies are not my thing, but there is at least the semblance of a whiskey backbone to this. IMO, light-years better than things like Red Stag, the honey whiskies, etc.

I do understand the mixing-it-up part. It was more the move down from 7x.x proof to 40/50ish proof that threw me off ;)

Saw a Bowman Single Barrel for $45, and decided to give it a go. That's not an earth-shattering price, but the cheapest I've seen around here.

Tried this at a tasting recently and agree, the spice does not overwhelm the whiskey and it has nice vanilla and chocolate on the finish. Others at the tasting suggested this in a holiday egg nog, and I think that is a great suggestion.

Someone further into the thread said something about sleeping on the couch. I'm pretty much there and won't be posting in this particular thread for the forseeable future. These were all over the past three weeks, resulting in an interesting credit card balance this month. I tried like hell to explain: "This isn't even that much Bourbon! It never goes bad! You should see this guy in the board named Hectic, he brings home 40 bottles at a time!" I lost.

2 ORVW

2 VW12

2 PVW15

1 PVW20

3 AAA 10yr 1.75L

3 VOB BIB 1.75L

2 GTS 13

2 ER17

1 WLW13

That's on top of muling for some family and friends:

2 PHC7

2 Bambi

2 Bowmore Mariner 15y, circa 2001

1 Bowmore NAS darkest, circa 2001

1 Bowmore 17yr

Stopped in to get some wine for my wife and 2x CEHT BP came home with me along with the few bottles of wine. I like the single barrel very much and have never tried the BP. Looking forward to opening this when I get over my nasty cold.

Congratulations BAO. You have now been ordained as an upstanding member of the "Society Of Bourbon Brethren That Bought Too Much". :pope:

The good news is that a whole bunch of us are members. The bad news is that the dues are now required semi-annually.

Cheers! Joe

Nice!! I can't find MC locally so always have to order it online. Thankfully it's cheap enough that a case purchase is easy to stomach.

Yesterday I found two bottles of ORVW10/107 on the shelf and got a phone call that I won a lottery for a bottle of PVW12. This capped a truly amazing week for my cellar and a bad week for my wallet. 1-PVW20, 4-ORVW10/107, 3-ER17, 1-PVWFR Rye, 1-WLW, 6-WFE 12 year Private barrel from Yankee Spirits, MA (might be my new favorite bourbon, it's stunning), 1-THH, 2 - PVW12, 1-Ben Nevis 12 Year Blended dusty, and 2-CC15 dusties in tins.
