Yesterday I found two bottles of ORVW10/107 on the shelf and got a phone call that I won a lottery for a bottle of PVW12. This capped a truly amazing week for my cellar and a bad week for my wallet. 1-PVW20, 4-ORVW10/107, 3-ER17, 1-PVWFR Rye, 1-WLW, 6-WFE 12 year Private barrel from Yankee Spirits, MA (might be my new favorite bourbon, it's stunning), 1-THH, 2 - PVW12, 1-Ben Nevis 12 Year Blended dusty, and 2-CC15 dusties in tins.

What's the barrel # on those WFE 12yrs?

Nice pickups man!

Even though I'm officially on a moratorium from any more purchases I couldn't resist picking up a lone FRSmB 2013 that I found while traveling. I grabbed it off the shelf so quick that I think it left a puff of smoke.

A local supermarket has started selling Jefferson Bourbon for £30 where most other places have it for £40, after buying it I don't feel it was worth the outlay and should be priced nearer £20!

A few days ago I found a bottle of Promise of Hope at the local liquor store for $88. I couldn't pass it up.

With you there...if I could find it for that, I'd probably bring it home too. I paid $85 last year for PHC 2012 so I'd do it again for POH...especially for the ALS cause. However, I've seen very little of it around here and what I've seen has been no less than $99...plus the pocket-picking ability of the TN taxing authorities. :frown:

Nah, pilfering from IN.

For as much raiding gets done by visitors to KY, i feel like it's our duty to branch out and do the same in reverse! Kidding, love the tax revenue...from most of you....

@chainwhip - the WFE is Barrel # 385. Supposedly there were only 60 bottles for $70. I don't know much about it beyond it is 12 year bourbon from Kentucky. Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA location picked it. I only found out about it when someone tipped me off to it. Based on their recommendation, I bought 3 from their South Attleboro location. Tried it and bought another 3. If it wasn't BTAC/PVW season I would have bought another case or two. So much cocoa and spices.

I cannot even get a response from willett regarding our barrel selections.

Requested samples January 4th of this year. Received them first week of May, selected them less than a week later.

We were hoping to have them on the shelves for Christmas but I highly doubt that will happen.

That sucks Eric. The lack of open communication from them to you is more troubling. One thing to be off schedule, another to start avoiding folks.

Well since I won some money gambling at the Casino in Battle Creek I gambled on 3 bottles I have never seen back home in Illinois. One each of:

Calumet Farms

Traverse City SB

Pennypacker

Was just in that kind of mood. We shall see...

I rescued a lot of those FR125s last month from IN, brought them back to their rightful home.

I stopped at a little place near where my Mom lives (I drove her home after the family get-together for T'giving). I had picked up what I thought might be the last chance at a '12 B'day Bourbon there about two months ago. Well.... lo and behold, they had one more '12 BDB along with a few '13's. So I scooped up the very last '12 I'll probably ever see at retail (they jacked it up to '13 price, tho) along with a '13. I didn't love paying the extra $5; but I do love the '12, so I caved, and I ain't sorry I did.

I'd like to hear your take on the Traverse City, is that their own make 3 year old? Calumet is unfortunately a basic MGP bulk whisky. Is there an age statement on the Pennypacker? In the past that's been a 36 month old 80 proof Heaven Hill brand sold in Europe.

I got out of work slightly early tonight (8:30pm instead of 11:30pm) so I decided to head up to Sturbridge from Hartford. They didn't have any on the shelves. I asked the clerk, she said the computer shows bottles in stock, they are here somewhere. Gets one manager, he looks on the shelf then says he will have to check upstairs. The other manager walks by and the clerk asks him and he gives a "ohh right that...not sure there are any left up for grabs...I'd better go upstairs too." First guy comes down a few minutes later empty handed with a sheepish yeah-we-got-em-but-not-for-you shrug.
