I was deciding between a Willet 8 year and 10 year, passed up on the 10yr. Quick skimming through some reviews made the 8 year sound a bit more appealing to me. Also left some Weller 12 on the shelf. It's fairly easy to find around here and I'd already spent enough.

WFE's are single barrels, and though people tell me that they vary widely, I have to think that Willett shoots for some kind of a profile. Ive had one 8 and loved it, and one 10 and thought it had all the properties of ECBP that I disliked so much. So, last time I saw any WFE, there was a 10 and an 8, and (I could be wrong here) I keep thinking there must be SOME kind of profile they try to aim for, so I grabbed the 8. Good luck with it!

I bought a store select WFE 9 yesterday. I have only seen WFE 8 and 10 regular SBs. I was planning to buy the WFE 8 yesterday until my wife talked me into buying the WFE 9. It saved me a trip to the other store. I only tried a single pour of it yesterday and can taste some of the ECBP properties that you mention.

I passed it up at $49.99. Other stuff was more reasonable.

Yeah, I can't speak for what is reasonable in CA but it typically runs $30 to $36 in Indiana. I pass on it at that price because there are other options that I prefer in that price range. I would certainly pass on it at $49.99.

I've had about a half dozen of them. I'd say a number of folks here have had many more than that. They varied wildly in terms of flavor profile and which I preferred.

Founds surprising amount of Stagg jr and ECBP on shelves today.. Left all of them for others

I think of seeing those two in plenty as a good sign. Hopefully supply of those becomes common enough that people will stop clearing the shelves of them to try and flip for a profit. I've passed on a fair amount of Stagg jr but the ECBP is still a rare duck.

One local retailer, who has SBs, told me that Willett is currently stopping their SB program. He wasn't sure when, or if, they would be restarting it. I had heard or read this somewhere else before.

Woulda grabbed the OBSO and left feeling I had the best of the lot and for less $$ than the others.

Passed up a store selected FR OBSO 9yr 8mo Barrel Proof at $49.99. First of all, it didn't seem all that compelling as a barrel proof FR being it was only 104 proof. Second, the manager, who had just told me that their BTAC allocation was "spoken for", took another gentleman into the back who walked out with ER17, GTS, THH and Lot B. So if my money wasn't good enough for that, I put down the FR (mind you, I've spent quite a bit of money at this store, whether they know it or not). I did buy two more Ritt BIB DSP 354 for the bunker though, as this store has the best price around on that one.

I have some JW Dant, VOB BiB, and Old Heaven Hill 8 Year in various shopping carts around the web. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger due to shipping costs. One of these days…

I'm sure I'll pick some up at some point, but it will be around awhile. I did want to research the OBSO a bit anyway, as it is not one of the usual private selections that I see coming around often.

To add to my amusement, they listed the mashbill as 75% corn, 20% rye..., which I knew was wrong as to anything OB. Pointed that out to them separately, but it's still listed incorrectly.

The GS OBSO I have is all raspberries, plums, strawberries and spice. It is unusual but in the best way, it has a distinct and delicious flavor profile (if you like berries and plums). I hope they at least listed the recipe correctly.

JPSR21, JPS25, Michter's Celebration, and an opportunity to put my name down for a Pappy lottery, among other things. I told him to give me a call when the BTAC comes in though. The one bottle of VWFRR they got went to a staff member, that's the only VW I want this season, so why bother. More for those that are dying to try it.

Thank you for the notes on the OBSO. I am sure I'll pick one or more up at some point. And I saw the bottle, and it is definitely OBSO. 9 years and 8 months, 52.2%. The store maybe just got in a little over the heads in listing the mashbill, as it is incorrect and I can't imagine FR fed them that info.

Michter's Celebration, and an opportunity to put my name down for a Pappy lottery

Whoah there...is that the silly expensive bottle of Michter's or a typo? If it's the expensive one, shouldn't he have COMPED you whatever Pappy he had?

The OBSO is my favorite thus far (I've never tried an OBSQ or OBSF, at least not as a side-by-side). Very fruity, which I just adore. Wish more stores around here would pick that (mine was a gift, and was bought at TPS). I did a blind sbs tasting with OBSO, OBSK and OBSV all diluted to 100 proof, and could definitely identify the yeast impact. I tend to prefer higher rye content, but I'm anxious to find a nice barrel proof OESO at some point - just to confirm :yum:

Stopped by a place on my noon hour today. Decent if unspectacular selection, usually reasonable prices. Looked way up on top of the shelves where the regular stuff was for sale, and saw an ER17 and two other bottles behind it that looked like they could be BTAC. Got the guy to climb up on the ladder, sure enough it was a Saz18 and WLW. Asked what they wanted for them, he talked to his manager, said they weren't for sale and would eventually go behind the bar. The ER17 (they had more than one) was $189. I assume the other two would be similarly priced if they were actually for sale. An easy pass.

GTS @$199, ho hum on this thread, but I'd never actually seen this first hand

JPS21@$130, THH @$99...

all at the same store, so I walked away from the "special case" and got the last Macallan CS off the shelf for $57.

AECS. Couldn't pull the trigger. $150 is more than I've ever spent on a bottle and more than I'm going to spend on a bottle.
