393foureyedfox
No one gets a Pappy shipment every week. Once a year. Sorry. In a rare moment, I am inclined to agree with Mountains here. I bet the store owner was a bit confused and maybe meant he gets a BT shipment once a week, and just assumed that meant he could also get Pappy once a week as well.If somehow you are correct though, I wouldnt tell a single person about it. black mamba
Pappy shipments do occur more than once a year. Usually the first release is Oct./Nov., but there are often additional shipments throughout the year, but nothing regular and certainly not every week. I just happened to be at a large chain in Hollywood a few years back, asked if they had any Pappys and was told no, it came and went a couple months earlier. Just then, another guy in the back room said they got some more in that morning, it was still in the shipping cartons. I scored a 15 at retail, just for being in the right place at the right time.Several other stores I have frequented have gotten shipments in the spring. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their shipping shedule.
MyOldKyDram
If they're getting shipments throughout the year, it's at the distributor level, them holding some back. It's only released by the distillery once a year, now.

See how well the single release worked...

Underhilltab
OFBB '13. I find distribution, retail inventory, and customer shopping patterns very interesting. A couple of bigger stores around me that do high volume bourbon sales, and get allocations of Pappy, BTAC, etc., do not appear to get OFBB. Another store around me -- smaller and probably more of a wine/beer place -- has had OFBB '13 on the shelf for several months (and I noticed the same thing with the OFBB '12). I bought one '13 a month or two ago and went back for another last night -- left at least one more on the shelf. If these had been at other stores just 5/10 miles away, they would have been gone in days -- yet those stores don't even get them. I guess another key point is the store that has them doesn't have an internet presence -- which is likely another reason (aside from the store attracting more wine/beer shoppers) for the OFBBs to stick around for a while. Of course, price may have a little to do with the shelf life as well, but the price isn't too outrageous compared to what I've seen elsewhere. Crowes
Snagged a bottle of 2012 WLW... very excited. Didn't find it at a store but a good friend of mine passed along a bottle from his own collection at a reasonable price. Can't wait to try a glass tonight. kwshannon
A new grocery store in our area has expanded their selection of bourbons and ryes. Every time I go in they've converted more of the set of shelves to bourbon, rye, and corn whiskey instead of american blends. They have very few limited editions, but good selection of standard offerings that are available in Iowa. Last week purchased a 4RSmB, today, for variety, I added a BT. Yeti
Get it, Josh! Very nice.ETA: what does Mr. little think about the HHSS?ETA II: the logo looks fantastic on the OS label!ETA III: (why the heck not) come on SB weekend!John went a little nutty for HHSS. Both of the bottles on the table, HHSS and our OS pick, were so amazingly drinkable it was kind of crazy. A handful of us drained a bottle of AWS OS this afternoon, and put a big dent in the HHSS. I left it with John as a gift. He thought it might be "too sweet" or that it lacked a little bit of spice for balance, which I think is totally fair, but it only spurred him to continue researching. P&MLiquorsEric
Also...the 3 cases of lot B that I picked up were dated 9/5/13 but the shipping label is dated 12/18/13... which isn't the widely accepted date that the stuff is release from the distiller. Anyways, I'm just saying that since you don't work for Buffalo Trace or Julian, maybe you don't know everything about the distribution system.A distributor can hold onto product and slowly release it if they choose. They will hold onto bottles to ensure key on premise accounts have a steady "drip" of bottles. A different story for retailers. Most of them release it once a year.
