Wow, I may need to re-think my drinking. I I usually have either a beer or glass of wine when I get home in the evening and then before bed I have about 2 oz of Bourbon. That is my every day routine.

2 drinks a day for men is considered safe by the government guide lines.

I guess I should also mention that I am on a furlough from work for a bit and so I have increased my in take to the above stated levels. When I'm working it's certainly not even every day I have a pour, some work nights I'm just too exhausted or busy.

Forgot about this thread. I have pours everyday of the week. Some week nights if I'm tired after a long work day I'll only have four but that's rare.

How can government alcohol guidelines (which vary greatly among countries) ever be considered anything than incredibly broad and extremely general guidelines. One size cannot fit all, especially in the melting pot of America. Genetic markers such as acetaldehyde dehydrogenase function, height, weight, age, other medical conditions, past nutrition, past fitness...the actual size of your damn liver...and on and on will determine how much you can safely drink. I just don't care what ones consumption is to determine mine.

Found this thread as I am sipping a Knob Creek SB Old Fashioned, I probably drink 4-5 days/week and 3-5 oz. of 90+ proof Bourbon or Scotch per drinking days. I use 3oz of bourbon for Old Fashioned's and Manhattans--FYI. I just finished the Old Fashioned, and am considering pouring another....so today may be 6 oz.

If I am only doing a tasting of bourbon to relax at the end of the day, it's 1/3 of a Glencairn per Bourbon or Scotch.

That said, when I have parties, I drink more and for a longer duration.
