What's your consumption?

I would be surprised if I drink much more than a bottle of liquor a month. And it is certainly not all bourbon as I drink most all types. Lately it has been just as much rum as bourbon. With cocktails you can add liqueurs, vermouths and amaros of various sorts to that total but it still probably doesn't amount to much. Then there is port, sherry, vin de liqueurs, etc which is just as difficult to quantify and keep track of! So maybe, just maybe it is more like 2 bottles a month of everthing combined. Not counting beer, cider and the rare glass of wine of course...

So based on that level of consumption I figure I have enough liquor to last me until sometime after 2100.

The year, not the time. But I do share a lot of it!

I really vary from week-to-week. Typically, I'd say 2-3 oz. four times a week, so 12 oz. Some weeks I drink very little if any, and some weeks (like this week) I have 4 or more ounces multiple days.

I used to be a 3-4 bourbon/scotch 750s a month drinker, plus at least that much wine, both red and white.

But since my heart attack in October, I've cut way back. Now it's a bottle of wine every week or two, and 4-6 shots of neat spririts per week.

That 60% blockage stuff will make you think.

Glad to see you're still kickin'! I always thought a little booze would help scrub those arteries out. Sort of like a solvent.

I would estimate about 1.5oz a day, on average, over the course of a month. Some days/nights much more than that, some days less or not at all.

Fess up? I don't wanna play. Even BHOFs can get embarrassed. BUT -

At 25.4 oz. per 750ml bottle, one can get 12 hefty pours per bottle. At two pours per day, that's two drinks per 24 hours or one bottle every six days, give or take. That's 5 bottles per 30 days or 60 bottles per year. Assuming no sharing, of course.

I can live with that.

A bald-headed old faht reveals hisself.

This is the most honest response I've seen. Those staying within doctor's orders are drinking 5 bottles per month, people, not 1.5-2!

I usually have a glencairn of something each night after the kids go to bed to wind down from the day. One the weekends, sometimes a few more, sometimes a few less.

Doctor's orders! Reminds me of "Arthur," when he tells the waiter to bring him a scotch and water every half hour until he passes out, then bring one every hour.

I'd estimate at a bottle per week depending on the amount of basketball/volleyball/track/scholastic bowl, etc activities that I need to attend.

Probably about a bottle of bourbon a month...and a case of wine...and maybe a little gin, a little port and a scotch. Add a few dinners out and you have enough to make me understand why I don't wake up at 4am to train for an ironman.

Ha!! My 1.5oz a day answer was also only about bourbon ;)

I budget for (and buy) one 750ml bottle per month on average, but typically drink far less most months. Spring and Autumn I'd probably go close, but winter I tend to drink more port and fortefied wine than anything as it's the one thing my wife and I drink together, and in summer I just don't enjoy drinking when it's really hot. I will reach for a Makers and Coke with plenty of ice in the heat, but i can't drink more than about a can of coke at a time so I'm usually limited to about 2 drinks...

Ugh. I thought I had a life time supply in my bunker but at ~2 oz per day that's not much more than 5 yrs worth assume I stop buying. A good reason to buy more

I figure I drink about 3 bottles a month. That's including equivalents in beer/wine, which rarely drink now a days because I figure why drink beer or wine when I could be having a great bourbon or rye?

One thing that surprised me in this thread is how many people keep so many bottles open at the same time. I know whiskey doesn't go bad, but to me it does loose a little of the flavor and nose. The most I keep open is about six at a time.

I'm a bottle a month at the most type of guy myself. So I'm sitting on probably about 8 - 9 years supply at that rate. The X-factor is a good buddy of mine. When he shows up my bottles suddenly develop large leaks.

As for amount open at a time, I used to have almost 30 bottles open but now I try to keep it around 8 or less.

I'm gonna keep it real with you guys. Between the wife and I we probly put put down about two bottles per week. Sometimes more if there a lot of good sporting events on TV.

About a 750mL every other month on average, but weighted to the summer. I frequently have an ounce or two after my daughters go to bed, but in the summer I'll head out to the front porch and have several in the warm air.

I drink a 1-2 oz pour most nights and it translates to a little less than 2 bottles a month. I also drink close to a gallon of water a day at work so it flushes out well

I was up to almost a bottle a week at one point. It left me feeling pretty crappy all around and was starting to affect my personal and work life. When I started to really appreciate nosing and tasting bourbon and scotch, my consumption went way down. I'll have about 2 to 3 oz once a week and maybe a little more when I'm out of town.

I'm glad you've found better balance in your consumption. It's always a fine line.
