JPS 18

JPS 21x2

JPS 25

happy, but not happy as what I really came for was gone.

B

Didn't know you could still get the JPS18.

Just finished mine last night.

I like the 18 a lot more than the 21.

picked up a green spot and a smooth ambler 10 yesterday. I grabbed the green spot based on reviews I've read on SB, but after opening it I've decided I'm just really not a big fan of irish whiskey.

Also picked up a couple 4R 125th today, at (unfortunately) secondary market prices. I've only had one taste of it before and it was quite possibly my all-time favorite, so I decided it was worth it to grab a couple.

the 4R 125th is prob my favorite too.

Lets put it this way...I have been trying to buy it overseas and ship it here just so I can have a bottle but no luck so far.

Traveled to Kentucky to taste through the distilleries for work--it's all park of the job. Did a barrel selection (EWSB) at Heaven Hill and Jim Beam (KCSB). Hit a couple liquor stores for purchase bottles for my personal stash. Bought stuff I can't get (or don't see in New York.

HH Gold BiB

HH white BiB

HH Green BiB

HH Green 90 pf

VOB BiB

Old Forrester 100

Ancient Age 90

Beam 7 year

Kentucky Tavern BiB

Old Fitzgerald BiB

JW Dant BiB

JTS Brown BiB

Also picked up Old Tub from the Beam distillery and passed on VOF12 at HH thinking I'd find in stores, but haven't seen it.

So, now I'm well-stocked on cheap 100 proof bourbon. Hopefully I can stomach it.

Picked up a Weller 12 yr and ORVW. Theres a corner store a half mile from my house I never go to because the customer service was terrible. I checked it out the other day with the wife to get some cheap wine for Easter and found out that the store has some really cool new owners. I ended up talking to them for about 15 mins about bourbon and left my name and phone number for any interesting bourbon that comes through the door. They remembered me and I picked it up yesterday and made a great contact with the store. I am a firm believer that it pays to really get to know the owners on a personal level not because I want to be the first one called, but because I envy the small business owner that I aspire to be one day, just not in the liquor store business.

I had about a 15 minute "get to know your liquor store manager" chat last night. Nice guy. Picked up a Barterhouse. I had been vacillating on whether to buy one, the reviews have been all over the board, but finally figured it was my taste buds that counted. If it doesn't wow me, so be it - it will still almost certainly be passable, and it's not like the kids will go without shoes. If it does wow me, then I've made a score of a bottle that won't be around forever.

That said, I haven't tried it yet. I've been keeping my Monday - Thursday drinking at zero to minimum levels lately.

I still have a spare bottle of POH but I would pick up another if I saw one local. I like it and $94 isn't too bad.

I bought the last one I saw at TotalWine awhile back.

I picked up a Michter's US 1 Rye, Four Roses Caskers Exclusive Single Barrel, Few Bourbon (it's had some bad reviews but that hasn't stopped me yet) and Wild Turkey Rare Breed (you can never have enough of those.)

Picked up a pair of bottles of Barterhouse, a Stagg Jr, and a Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 year in Virginia. The prices were reasonable, I thought. Time to give them a good tasting and see if they stack up, though. Stagg Jr. in particular has some big shoes to fill.

Bought my first bottle of rare breed today. Will wait until tomorrow to get too acquainted.

Stopped by my other dealer on the way home last night and picked up a WT101 ($19.99) and a WTRB ($38.99) for a sbs tasting that another thread inspired me to try.

Although I previously said I'd pass I also picked up a bottle of Old Barterhouse ($79.99). Couldn't resist when I saw it.

2 FR Barrel Strength - OBSO and OESV. I am so damm excited to try these and regular single barrel is my if i only had one bottle on a desert island pick so i feel relatively confident these are going to be amazing. It was a choice between these and 2 Stagg Jr's for the same price ($54)....had to go with my gut.
