I have had Bone Snapper Rye which is 2 years old LDI rye. It is 108 proof. It has some of the typical LDI characteristics. It tasted much better than I expected for a 2 year old rye. It is actually pretty good. I like it better than Baby Saz.

I would assume this would be the first of what they started actually distilling on 1/27/2012 and not LDI.

Presumably so. Per Phil T's post above: "Distilled, aged, and bottled by the Willett Distillery"

Thad, that is what our tour guide,Drew's lovely wife, told us during Sampler. I will definitely give this a run out. SKU just tweeted the COLA for it and it's the WFE label. Cool that they are using that one to transition in their own make. Assumed they would.

I'm curious on this point. JEP NAS rye (100 proof, assumed to be just over 2 yrs) runs $30, and WFER at 4 yrs 110 proof runs $35-$40. Hoping to see the new 2 yr version below $30.

Just thinking out loud here, but I would like to propose that any future discussion of the Willett distilled rye go in the Willett Rye thread that Old Dusty started. This is such great news, it really shouldn't fall under the banner of such a downer thread title. This is new news, that deserves to be discussed on its own merits, IMO. But first, let's move that Willett Rye thread to the Rye area.

Agreed...I posted the label info here since I thought it showed that, yes, they are distilling. Dusty starting the new thread appropriate.

Joe, thanks for the support on this. There is clearly no deception in the new label. So let's celebrate a "new" distillery coming on line with their own make and get away from this healthy but played out discussion.

I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I'd first like to apologize for your tour at Willett Ken. I would be more than pissed too if I had your experience. My wife and I were on vacation at the time you were visiting. She runs our visitor center and I can tell you if she or I overhead this it would have been dealt with before the end of that day. This is not representative of who we are. I can tell you they are supposed to go into details about the distillery being closed and also discuss the fact that we've been an independent bottler since the distillery closed in the early 80's. I want to also let you know that Shawna and another tour guide no longer work for us. As for any other questions I can be reached anytime by email at drew@willettdistillery.com

Yes. Thanks so much, Drew. As far as I'm concerned, this matter is now closed.
