petrel800
mythical in that I don't know what myth to believe on its originsDude, who opened the bottle, didn't he read the article, the makers intended to see it's value go up as a collectors item. God, I bet he took all his 80s Star Wars action figures out of the box to play with too.

BigRich
Hey - I resemble the last part of that remark (and if anyone questions my geek-ness, I can proudly pull out my still near-mint in box Star Wars original Darth Vader (12 back for those REAL geeks) action figure!)OT - pouring some of the booty from KBF this evening. Started with some OBSQ (really like this, sweet salted caramel dancing with those spicy notes!) and OESF (not quite as nice - more dry, herbal earthiness going on). Moving on to some HHSS. Odd, but the nose reminds me of . . . the gazebo on a Friday night. So much going on - could just nose this thing for hours (if I didn't know what it tasted like!) tylermke
Last night had a Saz18 at a bar in the city. Also wanted to say that i believe i visited the best bourbon bar ever in Milwaukee last weekend (Distill). Their stock was so deep i think i would need at least a few visits to cover just the rare ones i wanted to try, plus a few more to cover the regulars i have not gotten to. But had pours of FR125thsmB, Vintage 17, Vintage Rye 21 and HW 21 Rye. I dont think any of them were over $20. I swear they had everything plus some, older vintages of BTAC down to a massive BiB collection.
mbroo5880i
Enjoying a nice pour of Crown HKM BIB, Warehouse P. This has to been one of the most peppery bourbons that I have ever had. Not the most balanced whiskey but very enjoyable.
smokinjoe
Dark fruit, luscious, and thick pour of HHSS/2. Awesome whiskey that has exceeded all of my expectations. Even tops HHSS/1, IMO. The additional time in the cognac barrel has been magical. Not sure if this bottle will make it through the weekend...

JDSmith619
Went with Larceny, 7yr WSR and finished with 4RSmB... Just good pours
Paddy
4RSmB LE cracked. Let three fingers rest in the glass for an hour before tasting. Great nose, dry oak and prominent mint. Finish seems a little short but shows promise. More investigation required.

Restaurant man
Private pick OWA. This is a great bourbon. OWA has such wonderful possibilities. 7/107 is alright by me
bmajazz
2003 OGD BIB. I'm not sure it's exceptional, and it definitely has an alcohol bite not present in the ND bottlings. But, it's here, and it's been awhile. And it's open! It's kind of rough, and maybe it has that Beam funk? Or not!

Agree completely that this is better than HHSS/1 (which was indeed great). Wow!

jvd99
Tried Journeyman whiskeys last weekend at Four Winds Casino in MI - no thanks! The distillery was down the road in New Buffalo and I wanted a taste to help me decide whether to visit the distillery. The bartender poured a couple of samples and both were not enjoyable. They had funky names that I don't remember and we skipped a distillery visit. I ordered a Russel's Reserve BP instead and the bartender pured at least 3-4 ounces in a huge tumbler - I couldn't even finish it. This was at the bar in the casino steak house called "Copper Rock" - they had a great selection of bourbons and single malts. BTW - if anyone wants to try a NAS Macallan M from a crystal decanter - get lucky on the tables because its was $350 a pour.

Paul W
Out to dinner for work last night. Bar had Bakers so I had a couple. Not impressed. I expected something special but it seemed pretty ordinary.
dSculptor
Distil has a great selection, but was crazy overpriced the last few times I was there. PHC3, for example, was $120 per 1.5oz pour. I remember talking with the then bar manager (not sure if he still is) and he mentioned they were currently in-process of revamping their pricing, but nothing was certain. I was so put-off with their pricing I have not returned since my last time there (about 2 years ago), but perhaps I need to revisit. Their staff was knowledgeable and they seemed to take pride in making cocktails.I'll second that, we actually walked out of the place because of the prices.Had me some WR,CEHT SB last night, tonight is tasting night from the bounty of the KBF that was muled back for me. TunnelTiger
Last night finished off a RRSB and then opened a VOB 6 yr. While I enjoyed the RRSB I was suprised that the VOB was most excellent.Glad I have a few stockpiled in the bunker.

Not a bad consolation prize. What a bunch of pu$$!&s... Over here, I'm welcoming my new family of Buffalo calves into the glass. It's in short supply, and BT struggles to keep it on the shelf, but it continues to hit my sweet spot. Not sure I can name an everydayer bourbon that is more enjoyable for me. DPPSmoker
Just relaxing at home this evening with the wife and kids while enjoying a pour of EC18. How I kick myself now for not buying those last two bottles I saw two years ago for $43 per bottle.
