Well all good things must come to an end.

My local Dans is chock full of NAS Eagle Rare. I grabbed the last four bottles for my stash and quietly shed a tear.

RIP old friend.

Interesting change. Here in the US it lost its single barrel designation but remains (at last check) an age stated 10yo although the wording has moved off the neck label to small print on the back label. Some speculation that the age statement could easily and quietly disappear here as well.

Are you sure the age statement for the Eagle Rare isn't on the back label? All the US bottles recently had the '10' removed from the capsule, moved to the back of the bottle and the 'single barrel' statement removed entirely. The removal of single barrel is apparently due to a new expanded bottling line that can't guarantee that the tubing doesn't retain a little juice from previous barrels. Hope this is the case for you as well!

I will have to check that guys, thanks for the update. I just jumped to the conclusion that I feared, didnt even think to check the back! I will get back shortly.

It does seem and odd choice, as you say, the age statement could easily go completely next time.

No problem. Try and get some 114 and 100 proof too. 114 is spectacular.

If you seek in-your-face flavor (and think you would enjoy the regular Elijah Craig 12 with greater balance and mouthfeel) I would go for the ECBP. Although I have only had batch 1, it appears they are all fairly similar.

Where'd you try the Vintage 17/EC18? Would love to try them. I've bought a few Michters bottles since the tasting event. Looking for a reason to crack the 10yr Rye. Prefer the Toasted Barrel to the Sour Mash/US-1/Rye etc.

Took possession today of 3 bottles of various 4 Roses Cask Strength Single Barrels. Quite pricey but I haven't ever had anything from 4 Roses I didn't enjoy.

If you ever make it to Brisbane let me know. I've got an open bottle of Vintage 17 I picked up in Kentucky back in 2008 that you'd be more than welcome to try :)

I'll be there for 7 weeks sometime round June/July. Maybe I'll have to bring some stuff along!

Definitely let us know close to you being up here.... We could organize something with Scott (Hightower) and Tym (Stones) who are also in Brisbane. Where will you be staying?

As for the Woodford Rye, let me ask a contact and get back to you...

Looks like we won't see Woodford Rye on any national scale until the end of 2016 due to allocation. If it hasn't already, I'd imagine it will turn up at Nicks or MyBottleShop soon.

Probably June/July but haven't received my schedule yet. Probably staying round the Story Bridge Hotel area. I'd love to catch up with you Brissie folks.

Just polished off a couple pours to empty a bottle of Bakers 107 tonight. Really enjoy this stuff. Perfect proof, nice viscous mouthfeel and seems a perfect balance of spice. Try to always have one on hand.

While Australian distillers aren't allowed to produce bourbon, they can make whisky. Here is a list of Australia's distilleries. I'd be anxious to try some of their products if I could get my hands on them.

They can make a 'bourbon style whiskey', they just can't call it 'bourbon'..... I think that's what you're saying isn't it?

That could work... I'm a couple of km's away from Kangaroo Point and work in the CBD. Definitely let us know when you get your schedule :)

This is a long shot is anyone heading to the States who would send a bottle of bourbon once over there for a old forces friend of mine? Or know any way of shipping a bottle there any advice would be grateful Robbie

A nice surprise for Fathers Day today. A bottle of Blantons that was dumped on one of the days I was in Kentucky last year. It's gone to my 'special shelf' in the bourbon room. I know where it was purchased, so will track down a second bottle to open

Technically not Bourbon, but got my hands on a bottle of Stranahans. It is very very good. Surprised that the age statement only reads "at least two years". 47% abv but super smooth and tasty.
