In Shibuya. Just saw a store with the Harpers, WT Purple, Blantons (think it was the barrel proof).

Probably get the WT.

At a beer/bourbon bar in Shibuya (Craftheads). Bourbon selection sensational though settled on a choc/mint imperial stout from the US.

Had a single pour of George T Stagg at a Bar in Sydney over the weekend. Cost me $25 which is obviously pricey for a single pour of anything, but really in value terms its not too bad. Was a touch higher than 69% alcohol, so very hot, but so full of flavour. Really really good stuff, would love to find a bottle at a reasonable price.

I will be in Sydney for 15 days in February. If anyone has suggestions on where to go for bourbon and scotch (bars, restaurants, retail stores), I would be grateful. I don't know if Blantons SFTB is sold/available in AU, but that would be my holy grail to try or buy.

My first try of larceny last night. Was very impressed with its creamy thick mouthfeel.

A real winner!

$25 is a good price. I have seen it go upwards of $40 in some bars.

Bars: Baxters, Barber Shop, Smoking Panda, Ramblin Rascal Tavern. There are more, but they are the ones off the top of my head. When I have time tomorrow, I will actually write a better breakdown of what you can get in each and why I would go to them and in what order.

Retail: Oak Barrel, Camperdown Cellars, Dan Murphys Double Bay (heard good things, not been there) and if you are willing to travel about an hour and a bit out of the city, then Kempscreek Liquor Master.

I have not seen SFTB in any store or in any bar in Sydney.

If I think of anything else, I will be sure to add it in.

I've only seen it once... and that was when Nicks had it in stock for a while. I can't comment on its availability in bars, as I don't frequent them often, but I've not heard of it being available in well over 10 years of doing the bourbon hunting/hobby thing.

I grabbed a couple bottles of OWA from MBS whilst they were available, I think I ordered them within an hour of being added to the website! And in the absence of W12 I have been making an SB blend of sorts with larceny instead, loving it.

My overall impression of OWA is that it i prefer it with a dash of water, it is high in proof but also quite hot regardless, i reckon in a blind tasting i might even mistake it for a rye flavoured bourbon.

I can see OWA dividing oppinions.

I asked a muppet in duty free the other day what the process was for adding/being able to obtain things other duty free places have and we don't. They had no idea.

I think every time I go through I'm going to ask for the manager and make it my quest - to get them to stock SFTB (even the Gold), Four Roses anything and some Selecction de Maestros Rum.

I've always wondered who decides what products go into duty free stores. Is it the stores/chains themselves, or the distributors. Our Aussie duty free range has definitely improved over the last 15 years (that I've been travelling), but not by much....

Not bourbon, but I picked up a bottle of Crown Royal XR today from Dan's. Last one on the shelf, and the guy at the store wasn't sure if any more would be coming in. Will post some tasting notes when I crack it :)
