toddinjax
Colonel Lee runs about $15 or $16 for a handle at Total Wine; It's not the most complex pour but quiet acceptable to drink on its own, and mixes very well too.

Vadertime
Is HH6YO as thin as EWW? I have found EWW to be almost unnacceptably thin to enjoy neat. It is killer over ice though. Anyone know a store tang ships HH6YO? After looking for quite a while the closest I have found is HH5YO (?) from a Jersey site. Also, are the 1.75 of the 6YO in glass?Cheers. I didnt find either 'thin', but the profile of HH is better to me
Vadertime
Mr Fox, I recall you stated Dant was a bit thin. IYO are EWW and HH6YO thicker in mouthfeel?
393foureyedfox
Mr Fox, I recall you stated Dant was a bit thin. IYO are EWW and HH6YO thicker in mouthfeel? I think HH6BIB is measurably better than the Dant, especially when Dant costs more than the HH. Theyre obviously related though. Its been a year and a half since EWW, so Im not going to say definitively, but I remember it playing second fiddle to the HH too. Both cost more than the HH, and both arent as good to me, which makes it an easy decision. Plus, If I wanted any of them in a pinch, the pharmacy a block away carries the HH but not the others anyway, so.....
BigBoldBully
You might want to consider an occasional Mellow Corn. Yeah I know, it's not a "favorite" sipper but it's a nice change up once in a while. It certainly hits the under $20 request and comes in at 100 proof for those who won't drink anything less than that.Had no idea it was so inexpensive elsewhere. Only time I saw Mellow Corn it was $60.
fusion210
VOB BIB is hard to beat for $14 My only remotely anything dusty was a bottle of 90 proof with the age statement. But hey, it had dust and was behind 12 others at a popular place. It counts for me! Amazing for the price. I didn't buy any nas to compare unfortunately. I only wish it was 100 proof. To be honest, it was my first and last VOB. I've been trying all kinds of bourbons instead of buying the same bottle twice.

I enjoy it quite a bit, as a sipper, or mixer. A family sized bottle is $19.99 at TPS.

Harry in WashDC
Almost worth moving to Wisconsin for. We get out that way sometimes (some of my wife's relatives); I'll keep my eyes open. And reserve some space in my trunk.
TheNovaMan
I think EWBiB is, price per ounce, one of the best value bourbons on the market. IMHO, EW BIB may well be THE best bourbon deal in the state of Michigan.having vacationed in MI and driven south-north-south through the state, I have a ballpark idea of what you guys get and dont get. So, If I were living in your region, Ezra 101 would be my first pick, and Larceny the second. For some reason, the powers that be have not decided to allow us to have Larceny in MI.or creating a 'bourbon fund' and taking a yearly trip to KY in a minivan/truck/large trunked car...think of the excitement of $1000 or so in your pocket and a scheduled bourbon run with a buddy or two for a roadtrip.... You could even schedule it so you could meet many other bourbon enthusiasts somewhere in KY, and you could all bring some interesting bourbons and have a tasting! Quintilian
$34.99 around here regularly; maybe circa $30 on sale. You sure you weren't looking at the yellow label without your glasses on? I'm no longer shopping at a liquor store because of how they're marking up FRSmB. For a long time it was $32.99, which is okay by IL standards, but then they jacked it up to $37.99, and I just scoff at that price. I was in Indy less than an year ago and bought it for $24.99. I'd rather travel to Champaign and visit Binny's and get FRSB for that price. The bizarre differences in prices among states maddens me. I need to travel to IN to scarf up some HHBiB. As of last year I was getting the gift packs of 4RsmB complete with a stainless flask for 19.99. Seemed like a great buy so I got two. As one was to be gifted, getting only two seems silly in retrospect.

Tucker
It used to be AAA 10 year, now I'd say either Larceny or FRYL. There was a time not too long ago that Dickel No. 12 would make this list but I haven't seen it under $20 in a while.
black mamba
For under $20 a fifth vatting is your friend. A 50/50 of OGD114 and FRYL comes in at $17 + tax per 750, and 97 pf. It does a very good imitation of ETL for half the $$.
