Finally came across an ETL Comm. - Was more then MSRP but definitely less then the stuff still floating around online. Love regular ETL and gave into my gut feeling that this was probably the last chance I was going have to grab one. Looking forward to the SBS.

I stopped by a local store today to see if they had anything new in. I went to the bourbon section, and to my surprise there were four bottles of Weller12 sitting on the shelf WSR sits when they have it in stock. I've never seen W12 there before and brought home a couple of bottles. Looking forward to finally trying the stuff. I'm a fan of Larceny, OldFitzBiB, WSR, and WA107, so I'm curious how it compares.

Given the reports of price increases in different parts of the country, I decided to take no chances and purchased (3) handles of OGDBIB and (2) OGD114's.

My current bottle OGDBIB (with bright orange screw cap, which I love) is almost empty. I will keep that bottle and decant into it.

I purchased 2 of the Old Forester Repeal Bourbon gift packs today.

Really, still around? They were worth it for the Glencairn when they were marked down to $7.99.

I had been wanting to get some Glencairn glasses so at $9.99 for each gift pack the glasses were my primary motivation. At that price, if the bourbon wasn't that good I would just use it for cocktails and be happy with the glasses. After sampling the bourbon I will probably grab a couple more.

Yep! I love Binny's. I wondered if the discount would apply to the ECBP, but he said ALL wine and spirits today. They do this sale once in a great while. But it's in-store only.

Ain't Binny's great? Almost went there myself today.

I did see some Stagg Jr. at a local store today. I passed on it because I wasn't sure what batch it was. Came home and found out it was from Batch#3. As luck would have it, I had to go back out again later, so I went back and picked one up. I was pretty happy. The price was $10 less than I thought it was.

Cheers! Joe

Store Selection BT. The store claims extra 15 months of aging and this stuff is really good.

So what age is NAS + 15 months anyway? ;) I have had some very nice store pick BTs, though.

So, after having my order cancelled (again) by one of the big chains, I got a call from my favorite independent.

Said he had been out sick when the Forged Oak came in (which is why I assumed he didn't have any, he would have called).

Told me he had two bottles set aside for me, and a "surprise".

When I got there, he pulled out the two bottles of Forged Oak (One for me, one for my buddy), a bottle of Bowman Vanilla Bean (bought), a bottle of Straight Edge (passed), and a Free bottle of a Port finished Scotch he was thinking about stocking, but wanted some opinions on. Can't beat a free surprise, I suppose.

As I was paying, he told me to look in the box. Turns out the free Scotch wasn't the aforementioned surprise. There was also a 2014 OFBB inside.

Never get pleasant surprises like that from the big chain store...

That makes today's haul:

OB Forged Oak

Bowman Vanilla Bean

OFBB 2014

Scotch I can't remember the name of

We have the same favorite independent. He gave me the sherry finished single malt to try with my tasting group… 21 year old Strathmill. This guy is the best and I bring him all of the business that I can. For some reason, he thought that we knew each other… maybe we should. ;-)

Picked up two blantons gold while escaping the cold in Antiqua...managed to spill 1/2 of the first bottle, drink the rest and bring the second home to Chicago. This was first non-US blantons - pretty tasty

Grabbed a ECBP at 140 proof, believe it is release 6. Not as hot as I would have thought neat, but much better with some water.
