It's been a whirlwind of a month and I'm pouring something special to do some celebrating tonight. First, I'm celebrating a promotion at work. Second, I'm celebrating the conclusion of a competition project. We are competing with two other firms for a large project and today was the presentation. We won't hear for 10 days who won, but everyone was very happy and satisfied with our design and we received many kudos. After many nights and weekends at work, we can relax.

For all of this I decided it was high time to bring out the 4R LE SmB 125th. One of the finest whiskies in my possession.

This morning I'm enjoying a generous pour of Weller Centennial. What a wonderful nose this has. The taste and finish are also wonderful.

Nice way to start the day.

A truly admirable choice... Indeed one of the 'finest whiskeys' in ANYBODY'S possession! Hope it was as enjoyable as you wished.

Went to Twisted Spoke last night for an engagement party and had: WLW19, WLW '13(?), GTS'13(?), Sazerac 18, EC20, EC21, and ended it with a very banana-y Henry McKenna.

And, even more admirable than that terrific line-up is the fact that you're up at this hour to talk about it! Or, are you still at it?!? ;)

Haha, no, just an early riser. Though if I had any of those sitting beside me right now I certainly wouldn't decline...

Last night, I had pours of ECBP Batch 8, CEHT Cured Oak, and a little HH6BIB.

It was! I've had this bottle open for a long while now. It was purchased early in my enthusiast days and just we like we tell some who are new to all this, I wasn't able to really appreciate how good it was at first. It is now one of my most treasured bottles and this whiskey ranks at the top of any I've tasted.

I was thinking the exact same thing Joe!

Evan Williams White BiB. Last spring it was Four Roses Yellow Label and Single Barrel.

Started with some corn whiskey I picked up in TN last night. Not too bad. Washing it down with the real stuff, OGD 114.

It's a Buffalo Trace kinda night it seems: 1oz of each vatting I mixed up a week or so ago: OWA/W12 and OWA/WSR, then a proper pour of BT, now on to ER10 which I haven't had in a few months. Tasty, like I remembered. Next I think will be more ER10 or back to work on that CEHTSmB bottle I put a hurting on last night.

Why is it the first pour never is what I think it will be?

Binny's FR OESO tonight, previous first pour of it was lackluster, but it so changed tonight. Much, much better.

WLW '? and WLW'14.

The ? is for the pour I had at a restaurant. It was listed on the menu as 130.8 proof which doesn't correspond to any year that I know, but which I didn't know at the time. I didn't go to the trouble to go back to the bar to look at the bottle because I figured I'd just look it up when I got home. Whoops. It was unmistakably WLW and not much water was required to get it to the sweet spot. It was a remarkable pour. Now I really wish I knew which year it was!

I'm enjoying the '14 here at home and while I do love this one, what I had at the restaurant was better.

A first few pours from a 54% 10-year OESF. Never had this recipe before but I am immediately in love. Can't imagine this getting much better with air, but it'll be fun to see if it changes.

Polishing off about a half a decanter of SB blend this afternoon/evening. Not as good as I was expecting and I've let it mingle for a couple of months. I think I'll stick to the two as separate entities

Went to see my old friend Bill at his place at the lake. Good news: Bill had some OGD. Bad news: It was OGD 80. Good news: It was still OGD just slightly muted. I don't think I have ever had OGD 80 before. Considering the inconsequential increase in price, I have never felt a need for anything other than the BIB and 114.

since a lot of you guys have been sipping on Larceny lately, I decided to have a glass tonight. last night I tried IW Harper NAS at a bar and it was meh, nothing special about it. felt it was an easy drinker without much depth to it.

While I prefer OWA or WL12, Larceny is a nice alternative, especially given its regular availability and price.

My oldest son got married yesterday and I sent him and his new bride off on their honeymoon today. Rejoicing and reminiscing with a few nice pours this evening. Started with a nice pour of GTS14. I really love this bourbon. It might not be the best GTS but it is very balanced and a nice bourbon. I thought about a second pour but opted to compare it to Bambi. My second pour was Stagg Jr., Batch #3. It is not quite as complex as the GTS but it is a nice bourbon. These aren't necessarily the best or my favorite bourbons in my cabinet but tonight seemed like a BT night.

the last full 2oz pour of my CEHTSmB and then dumped the remaining 3/4oz into my #lastpours decanter. Even though I don't have much room on the shelf as it is, even with the now empty CEHTSmB I decided to open my HMcKBIB and am glad I did. It is a nice pour. Quite spicy/peppery compared to the pour I just had but a nice change of pace. This reminds me I have a RITT and the other vatting of Templeton + 2 bourbons in my fridge I need to work on so I can open some of the other ryes I have in the bunker.

Just cracked my ECBP HazMat. Nice. Thick, caramel, spicy, HH fruit.

Hot, but not as hot as you would expect at 140
