Paddy
I went with 1792 tonight... Took a bottle to a cookout and placed it on the bar. It's been a topic of late, and word is that some really good batches have been hitting the shelves. I gave it a crack and found it a little thinnish and lacking, in the chewy dry wood that many of us enjoy so much. But the nose... at first crack... is all ripe cherry and caramel, followed by a taste explosion of light spice and sweet fruit. With a moderately long and pleasant finish each sip left me wanting. As I left for home, I could hear clearly an audible sigh of relief from the lingerers, when they saw that its remnants were left on the bar. flahute
Starting the evening with an old friend that I haven't cracked in a long while - standard BT. First pour from a new bottle and it's already hitting some fine notes. The night is young (west coast time) and I feel some GTS in my near future. bigtoys
4R Single Barrel LE 2o1e13 yo OBSK 116.2 proofWarehouse BSBarrel No. 3-2Abottle 2609/6559from the bottle: delicate wisps of fresh honey and brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. Light mint and wild berry notes mingle fancifully with the aromas of orange peel and fresh gingerbread. Dark chocolate truffle and spiced cookies lay like velvet on the palate and lead to a long and spicy finish...yum
meadeweber
Drats, I picked up a sinus infection earlier in the week. Tonight, I tried a small pour of a FR OESO/FRSmB blend. It tasted like sickeningly sweet cough syrup. It had a slightly sweet taste anyway so I opted for a small pour of WL12. It tasted exactly the same as the previous pour...like sickeningly sweet cough syrup. I thought I would give one more small pour a try just to make sure. I tried a small pour of Stagg Jr. 129 proof. Same taste. I think the medication has wrecked my palate for awhile. It is funny because I haven't noticed much change in the taste of food or snacks. It is just bourbon. You sure were persistent  Hope you feel better soon.

LCWoody
CR is bourbon? since when? I have never had it, probably never will.No it's not bourbon. But this particular CR I will take over 60 to 70% of the Bourbons out there. Spread your wings and a little bit, you never know what you'll find. Tony Santana
Had some Barterhouse last night - I bought a bottle, return to it once in a while, have always liked it but never thought it was worth the price. Last night it tasted as good as I've ever experienced it. The wood notes were noticeable, but not at all in a bad way.
fishnbowljoe
Woke up early this morning. :banghead: My son, being the good son that he is, bought me some new coffee to try a couple of weeks or so ago. So, along side my cup of Starbucks Rwanda Rift Valley coffee, I'm having a nice pour of Stagg Jr Batch # 3. Not a bad way to start a dreary, rainy Saturday morning. Cheers! LCWoody
The one that I have is a "single barrel hand select" 103 proof from a local store here in Lake Charles. It's very good.I did try the Coffey Rye and I have to say it wasn't bad.

Look at the bright side, I don't think your sinus infection is going to become a bad cough.... I empathize with you. I have caught a cold, or something, and am trying to plow through it.
