Watching the end of the Cards - Dodgers game after a brutal day outside. Started with some Buffalo Trace while cooking but now enjoying the last of a 4RSB OESK. Wonderful stuff, but sadly that one is done.

A taste of EWBIB and BT... I am beginning to think plain old BT is going to be my go to that I need to keep a few of on hand in the bunker along with 4RSmB.

I revisited WT Diamond Anniv. earlier and remain underwhelmed. It has some good moments, but it still tastes thin and there's still too much wood influence. I think the benefit of this bottle is that it will keep me in check when Master's Keep and the other extra aged LE comes out later this year. I'm not down on the low proof of Master's Keep as I was initially, but I am skeptical of the age.

Followed up with some 4R OESV and now some ECBP hazmat. Life is very good when drinking these two.

Had a small pour of SB.com Pick of HHSS (edition 2) last night. Couldn't really enjoy it, however. Sinus infection, I think. So I poured it back in the bottle.

Had some ET354 for the first time. It was forgettable.

Not bourbon but this bottle of Baby Saz I got some time ago and tasted back then has been looking at me funny every time I go to the bourbon wall so I'm starting with a small pour of it to see why I've left it alone for so long

EWBIB. I love this bourbon. It has backbone, richness, darkness and does not hurt my working class paycheck too bad. I applaud Heaven Hill for putting out a product I am proud to serve any dark spirits fan. My uncle is a 55 year bourbon/scotch/brandy sipper. He had two sips of EWBIB at our hunting shack and pulled out his notebook and demanded I tell him what it was so he could buy it when he got home.

Russell's Reserve the 90 proof. First taste wasn't doing anything for me and I had planned on moving back to the Barrel Select but this is growing on me

ETL followed an hour or so later by VOB BIB. Incidentally, the latest "Robert Parker's 'Spenser' mystery, written by Ace Atkins" is called 'Kickback' and features Spenser drinking ER. I may have to pull out a bunkered ER 10 yr.

We do, what we have to do, Harry. I've continued my enjoyment of the JB BIB. This bottle is fading fast...

On the road these days so I opted for a selection of 50ml size minis to have a nice variety on hand. Decided tonight would be a MM/Larceny showdown. Being a rye fan I knew not to get too excited but did want to see how these compared for me in a SBS. I always come away from MM a bit underwhelmed, its OK but reads too young to me with a "boozy" edge that makes me wish they just left it in the barrel longer, nothing changed about that perception tonight. I have had Larceny a couple times and enjoyed it but tonight I finally focused on it. Again no rye spice but vs. MM I get a richer experience without that youth I sense in the MM. I also found the Larceny to have a better mouthfeel. No losers here as both were decent neat pours but I preferred the Larceny in this SBS and I envision adding a bottle at home to satisfy that occasional wheater craving, in fact this may be my favorite among the

wheaters.

Some ETL while watching womens World Cup and Stanley Cup Finals. It's an easy drinking, tasty pour.

Technically NOT drinking.... Just before the Stones took the stage at Cowboys (AT&T) Stadium Saturday, I ordered up a double Makers Mark (choices were that, JD, or CR), to the tune of $26.00...

Made it back to my seat, took two small sips, then watched the cup slip off the edge of my seat and crash to the floor at my feet.

This was after dropping and breaking my camera before the show even started, and finding out the T-shirt I wanted was down to 2XL sizes left.

Somehow, it still turned out to be a great night!

Last night I enjoyed a few pours. Started with WFE 7yr Bourbon 122p , BT PS, and ended WTRB.

Weekend before last, travelled to Atlanta to visit my brother in law. He was throwing a barbecue (he made close to 30 pounds of smoked meat goodness!), and we went out shopping for supplies. He only drinks wine and beer, so it was up to me to bring home a bottle of bourbon (I can't imagine a BBQ in Atlanta without having bourbon on offer! The rudeness!).

4RSmB was available on sale for $25, so that's what I brought back. There were a few labels in the liquor store that I haven't seen in MA, for example we generally don't get anything with "Bowman" in the name, but I had a suspicion that the guests wouldn't be appreciative of the finer bottles. There were about 40 guests, and about four or five bourbon drinkers, and almost the whole bottle consumed. Designated driver rules were enforced!

Back home, my life has become busier again. Luckily, I have plentiful stocks of my current everyday bourbons in case I feel a thirst in the evening after chores are done. So Larceny or OGD114, straight or on rocks, depending on weather, mood, and whatever else influences my taste buds.

I predict I'll have time for some other labels in a few weeks.

Nice pour of a local 1792 pick that continues to blow me away. Have been talking myself out of bunkering it since I've got more than enough bourbon, but every time I pour this one I wonder what whiskey I've paid $24 for that I've enjoyed more . . . and keep coming up empty.
