Last pour for myself out of my E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof 125.4. I really enjoyed this one, thank goodness I have one left in the bunker.

Vacation. Florida. Festival in the park across the street with live jazz/rock music playing. Pool. A pour of WR followed by a pour of SAOS 7 yr. Life is good. Every once in a while.......

Adventures with bourbon at restaurants:

"I'll have a Makers Mark neat."

Waiter leaves, then comes back to verify: "you said a texas martini, right?"

Uhhhh, not even close. "Makers Mark neat," I repeat.

Waiter comes back with beverage, proudly declaring, "here you go, makers mark on the rocks."

I repeat my order yet again. He brought me back a chilled makers mark, having clearly just strained the ice, but at least it was finally neat!

Previous post was at lunch with mrs dcbt to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. Now having a 2012 PVW20, just one ounce, on the patio on this fabulous sunny 70 degree afternoon, baby daughter dcbt in her carriage by my side. Not quite vacation in Florida but not too shabby.

Had a generous pour of a Russel's Reserve SmBSB (whatever the hell that means) to remind me of what I'm gonna be tasting at the barrel pick in a month or so.

Followed that up with a smaller pour of Rare Breed, which I liked better in general, though the higher proof was probably the biggest difference.

other than the WR, that sounds like a perfect day!

Mrs Fox and I went out with her parental units for dinner, and I had a Larceny neat. Thats always a home run when in the mood for something lighter

I hope you enjoy your stay. Since you are in state you will feel my pain. AC went out Fri. $4000 new system instal on Tues. My house is HOT and its March. FRSB with an ice sphere. Ive reached a new low....When I finished my pour, I sucked the ice sphere to get every drop of bourbon off of it.

I just re-read this post... yes I know how bad that last sentence sounds.

I feel your pain. But I also have no sympathy. ;) My AC went out in july a few years ago. House never got cooler than 96 degrees for a week until they replaced the system. I'd get up out of bed every hour to jump in the pool. If we didn't have the dog at the time we should have been in a hotel. Looking back at it I don't know how the dog put up with it with her fur coat!

Edit to add, as my mom says, "I don't know how early settlers ever stopped here without AC."

W12 . . . along with some NCAA Basketball . . . sorry Kansas lost, but, the Wichita State Shockers surely earned their Sweet Sixteen ticket.

Enjoyed some 4R SiB while watching college basketball. My alma mater lost to Kentucky yesterday so now I root for Gonzaga (the closest local team in state) so I'm celebrating that victory with some Parker's Heritage PoH. Bourbon and sports is such a good combo.

The WR was purchased for me by our hosts. Re: Being Polite vs Educating forum. My wife and I told them not to buy any bourbon for me. We told them that I'd be bringing something, or would just grab a bottle along the way or when we arrived. What can I say? FWIW, it actually was pretty tasty. It seemed to have more of the Old Forester flavor to it, and not so much of the metallic/yeasty flavor WR is noted for. A pleasant surprise.

My Jayhawks got bounced from the tourney so I opened up my 4RSB 120th Anniversary I've been holding onto.

Very fruity, but in a very enjoyable way. Wish I had opened it sooner. Will definitely be revisiting it again.

Started off with some OGBIB and moving on to some OGD114, life is good, especially since a day of work on Monday is over.

For a week I have had taste bud issues due to allergies. So tonight I feel a little better and am having some Old Forester Signature. Good pour to get my game back up.

I have 9 unopened bottles, most of which I haven't had yet, and can't decide....

Valentine's Woodward (which I have had and loved), Old Weller Antique, New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon, Four Roses Single Barrel, Two James' Grass Widow, OGD100, Michters Small Batch, Knob Creek, EC12, and a bottle of EC12 I violated with bacon grease shoved back in the corner out of sight... :shithappens:
