Paddy
Gave the JB Signature Craft 12yr one more go and it was better than all previous attempts. It was good enough to convince me not to pour it down the drain. Figured since my luck seemed to be on the uptick I'd give the Michter's Toasted Barrel another go. Nope, still terrible. It is now officially in the "bottle you regret buying" thread. I poured out the rest of that pour and replenished with my first pour of some Ezra Brooks 12yr Single Barrel. Pretty good. I realize it's and NDP, but the price is cheap and it's 12yr age stated - a modern rarity. This is tasting like BT or Barton distilled to me. Has anyone else tasted this and thought the same?Heaven Hill....padpadpad

amg
a 99 proof barrel proofer?Yep. I emailed SA about it and they confirmed that they had a run of barrels that came out real low. Maybe LDI did some experiments with lowering entry proof or something? My palate was off last night so I'll have to revisit this one again later. Flyfish
Really? I can't think of any HH bourbons that taste like this one but it does remind me of BT Mashbill #2.I think maybe Paddy was trying to say that EB is a sourced bourbon made by HH. Travis D
· Hidden Hidden It's mentioned on breakingbourbon.com's 2015 release list under 'rumor': http://www.breakingbourbon.com/release-list.htmlIf released, BB's estimating around $100 in September. We'll see, very wishful thinking that the price would be a little more tame as well. Link to comment

flahute
I think maybe Paddy was trying to say that EB is a sourced bourbon made by HH.Oh, I know. I know it's sourced, and based on how it tastes to me, I taste BT mashbill #2. I've seen elsewhere the speculation that it's from HH, and that makes sense because they provide a lot to NDP's. It just doesn't like anything I know of from HH. Of course, that may be why they sell it, or, it's contract distilled and not meant to be similar to anything else they distill.Anyway, it's a decent 12yr bourbon in the low $30's so I'm a fan for now. I wasn't sure if you knew it was Luxco or not. Depending on the day of the week (and what I've consumed), I can taste just about anything in a pour. If it's tasting like BT MB #2, I'd say that's a pretty good day! :toast:

garbanzobean
Got a sore throat and sinus congestion that does not want to go away. Decided to treat it with a little store select Blanton's. This has been a neat variation on the Blanton's theme (very light and fruity with very mild baking spices and a creamy mouthfeel), but not one worth getting again. RHF is definitely my favorite MB#2 bourbon. Maybe I need to finally bite the bullet and order that Blanton's SFTB. I need to order a Glenfarclas 103 (and probably a regular 15 too) anyway . . . smokinjoe
Though I always find it enjoyable, tonight's pour of Maker's 46 is positively dazzling. Sweet on first sip like regular Maker's, but mid palate and finish is what really separates the two. The 46 really amps up the flavors of cinnamon and Goetze's Caramel Cream candy, and the finish is much bolder and lasting. It's too bad this whiskey isn't given more consideration as one of the better bourbons available, because IMO it most certainly is.

smokinjoe
Y'all let me know if you get the Goetze's caramel thing. I always have tasted the cinnamon, but the Goetze's Caramel cream hint is new for me. Sign of the times I guess, but one of the things that held widespread acceptance of 46 back when it was intro'd ~5 yrs ago was its price. Mid-upper $30's was steep, then. I got this bottle for the same, and it seems like a steal!
