Opemed another Willett WFE 11 yr. tonight.  Don't care what others say.  I continue to be amazed by how good WFEs are.

I have a Willet 8 year from a few years back sitting in the bunker.  I had a sister bottle back when it came out and decided to hold this bottle for a special occasion.  Probably when friends come over for a nice dinner or bourbon tasting.

Some of the best bottles I have ever had were WFEs.

Tonight, I am opting for something very special.  I don't say this facetiously but rather sincerely...OGD BIB.  I plan to end the nice with a small pour of Larceny just because it was discussed in another thread.

My of my oldest (and dearest) friends mother passed this week.  Last night, after the memorial service, we toasted her life and our friendship with a bottle of 4R SmB.  Here's to good friends and a life well lived!

Sorry for your friend's loss and toast you back. Well said. Looks like you guys did a number on that 4RSmB.

I'm with you. I thoroughly enjoyed that one you helped me out with last year and have a different one open now. I always visit the gift shop during our annual visit to see family in Cincinnati. I've never been disappointed with one of their bottles.

On topic, I've had some EC18 and OWA so far this evening. Both were incredible. I have one of those special OWA's open right now that rivals the ORVW10 I currently have open.

Celebrated Repeal Day with a little 4R 125th. Sad I am almost to the bottom of this bottle because it is just fantastic.

Went to a (what turned out to be a pretty epic) Christmas party at a friends house tonight and enjoyed some WRDO, WT Forgiven and WTRRSmbSB.  No, it wasn't the bourbon that turned out to be epic, but it did get the job done.

Finished off last pours of Fighting Cock and Eagle Rare as mixers in eggnog. The FC really added some good flavor, but this bottle of ER failed from beginning to end. I had a taste of a private selected ER and loved it, but this off-the-shelf bottle failed.

Had the wife's office holiday "party" on Friday night.  I use that term very loosely because everyone was allocated three drinks max (via drink tickets), and the choices were Bud Light, Shiner, red boxed wine, and white boxed wine.  No liiquor at all.  So naturally when we got home I poured 3oz of ECBP.

We put the tree up last night so I sat back after a long day of errands and chores with last year's JDHS.  Not much left in the bottle but I did enjoy it throughout the year.

Finishing off this bottle of store select 4R OESV.  I initially didn't think that this was that great of a bottle.  Time has really changed this for me and I tore through this one.  I need to go back a get a couple more.

Opened a bottle of 4R Small Batch, I had previously only had the Yellow Label.   The rye spice stuck out to my palate and it had a nice body to it.  I think with some air time the spice will mellow a bit.  Could definitely see this becoming a daily pour.  The 4R cult is looking awfully appealing...

Doing a comparison of Charter 101 and RHF while watching the Panthers/Saints.

Too early to tell for sure but first comparison shows youth and more spice in the Charter while the RHF is more balanced and refined

both are good pours with about $30 between the per bottle price.

Need to to verify the mash bill on each as well as that might explain the spice

Ritt then the last pour of a WTR101. Usually, I prefer the Riff. Today, the WT was tasting quite agreeable. Sweet and just a little minty.

In 1978 I inherited the job or organizing the corporate Christmas party. My predecessor had placed a 30-minute limit on free drinks at the beginning of the party. Everyone's objective was to toss back as many drinks as possible in 30 minutes. I changed the rule to open bar all night. People tended to have a drink, have some shrimp cocktail, have some conversation, have some bacon-wrapped something or other, have another drink, continue conversation. They spread their consumption over three hours instead of 30 minutes and ended up drinking less. The CEO kept me on that assignment until 1996. He retired and I left the company. My "bonus" was I got to keep all the leftover booze. So I was always careful to order plenty.

Jim Beam BIB and Frank Sinatra special, only fitting I would have a drink while watching this.

Celine sure can sing "All the Way".  Frank would be jealous.

Dug out my pint of JD 80 proof and a rocks glass and some rocks.  Just for Frank.

Watching the Steelers Defense continue to let opposing quarterbacks eat their secondary up...decided I needed something with a little oompf.  Pulled down an EHTBP I hadn't tasted in a while.  Good bourbon.....BAD defense.

Early in the evening yet here on the west coast so I'm just getting started. Had a small pour of EC18 to start. Still trying to decide if it's worth it to buy another. Great bourbon, but mixed feelings on the price. Following with some ER10. Now there's a rationally priced bourbon. Will probably follow on with a pour of ECBP batch? There's a single pour left in that bottle and it might be a healthy one.

Spent the day and evening mixing a friend's next album, he brought me a bottle of Jefferson's.  Nice.
