I was finally able to track down an OESK. It was the only recipe I was missing. The set off 10 is now complete.

Received an email yesterday that this was available, saying something like I have the GTS available...only one bottle...it's yours if you want it? Less than a minute later I had already emailed and said I'm on my way!

Whats Thanksgiving without some turkey. Picked up a Rare Breed today. Never tried it,but, I haven't had a turkey I didn't like thus far.

I also grabbed a bottle of WT Rare Bread and also found a bottle of Sazerac Rye and Rebel Yell. Nice day on the island.

A first (very small) sample I tried from the bottle was very promising already. I know not everybody is a fan of this Bourbon but I think I really like this. Need to investigate further this evening, hehe...

PVWFR-15, Port Finished 1792, Blanton's, Parker's Heritage. Actually scooped these yesterday, not today. On 'Black Friday', I hunker down and drink Bourbon; NO shopping!!!!!!

For the second time in my life, and the second year in a row, I've participated in a Black Friday event. At a liquor store, of course. Last year my buddy and I got there about an hour before the doors opened, and were roughly 25th or so in line. Not good enough to get a VW or BTAC, but I snared a 4RSmBLE and he got a Parker's Heritage. Hanging out in line with a bunch of fellow bourbon fans, it was kind of fun, we could wait indoors (liquor store attached to a big grocery store), and it was all good.

This year was the second year this store has done it. I figured since word was out it would be a bit busier. So my buddy and I show up a little more than 2 hours early. Saw about half a dozen guys milling around the liquor store entrance when I got there, and thought, wow, coming an hour earlier was definitely worth it, I'm going to be able to get a really good bottle (was hoping for a GTS). Then I saw the tents. I don't know how many people camped out overnight, but the line actually snaked around the corner of the building.

Figured out I would be roughly 50th in line. The list was posted on the door - about 70 bottles total, with 19 VW products (everything from 6 ORVW's/Lot B's to one 23 year), 7 BTAC's (no Saz18) 2 4R SmBLE's and 3 OFBB's. All of it close to MSRP. Some other good stuff too, but I figured we'd never get the ones I listed, which were what I was most interested in. My buddy and I decided to bag it go find a spot for breakfast. Had breakfast, stopped back at the store on the way back, about an hour later, and checked to see what the line looked like. Only about 12-15 more people, so we decided to give it a shot. Turns out they were also doing a Goose Island Bourbon Barrel Stout release, and almost everyone who got in the line in the last hour was there for beer, so we really weren't in any worse shape than an hour before in terms of getting whiskey, and had a chance to eat breakfast and take a load off our feet for an hour.

Went through the line, I got their one and only ECBP. My buddy grabbed a Weller 12 (not seen much around here, he'd never had it, they had 8 bottles). Went through the line again and we both picked up Michter's Toasted Barrel. At that point about all that was left was 2 EC23's, a couple WT Masters Keep and multiple bottles of Barterhouse and Rhetoric. Even the lone Blood Oath got snapped up. Then got in the beer line and got 2 bottles of the Bourbon County Stout.

So, all in all, not a bad deal, but it shows how crazy the bourbon world has gotten that people were willing to camp out overnight in late November Wisconsin weather just for a shot at a VW or BTAC.

I think I got carried away... I found a good selection of bourbons but not single malts. I purchased these in Colorado, most are not available in Arizona or can be difficult to find. :skep:

I spent most of the day hitting up nearly all of the liquor stores in Knoxville.

Came away with enough bourbon to kill an elephant.

4R PS OBSF (McScrooge's)

4R PS OESV (McScrooge's)

4R PS OESK (McScrooge's)

4R PS OESO (McScrooge's)

4R PS OBSK (Cork's)

4R PS OESF (Cork's)

OWA (Toddy's Store select)

HW Son of Bourye

OF SB (McScrooge's)

OF 1897 BIB

Old Ezra 101

Chattanooga 1816 Cask x3

First time going to McScrooge's. That place is awesome. They had all 10 of the 4R recipes, and several others, such as SAOS......plus free tastings. I spent entirely too much money, but it was fun.

Got what I think was the best deal going at Virginia ABC today. 1.75 Knob Creek normally priced at $70 was on November special for $60. Today's Black Friday special was 10% off. $54 + 6% tax = $57.23 out the door. A total savings of $17. Brings it down to .0308 cents per milliliter which is on par with the normal price for WT101. Actually they're very similar. Enjoying both this evening.

4 OGD BIB (orange cap, not the new redesign. Also paid old prices!)

Booker's Center Cut

EC12

SAOS 7 year old

High West Bourye

OWA 107

Not a bad day. I think I'm getting close to satisfied with my bunker of OGD BIB. Would like to get a few more EC12s.

Still on the lookout for OFBB, but afraid I missed this years...

Picked up a 4R OBSK store selection while I was out hunting for Bourbon County Stout. Passed on Woodford on sale for $12, probably should've grabbed that...

Clearly I need to hit some other stores next time through Knoxville. I've dropped a lot of cash at McScrooges in the last 4 months and was really disappointed in their gouging on the LE's this week. Their prices were ridiculous for a store that's generally pretty reasonable...

I didn't see any LE's there except for the PH Malt for $110. That's not too above retail. I went to 14 stores around Knoxville today and McScrooge's did have the best selection, and some of the best prices, but I wasn't really after LE's, except ECBP, if that's even considered LE.

$12 for Woodford reserve?

Sho nuff. Space is at a premium right now due to my collection of barrel aged stouts, but that price is stupid cheap so I may grab one tomorrow if the deal is still on
