Bought two bottles today in Lawrence Ks. They just got them this Monday. Maybe there are still a few cases yet to hit stores and shelves.

Checking the bunker I have found several bottles of both the std and the LE release. I hope the next one I open tastes better because last weeks bottle just didn't hit the spot like it did a year or two ago.

Enoch is the winner.

Stopped in a upper tier liquor store in Myrtle Beach SC and was astonished by this.

(Sorry about the side ways pic but can't figure out how to correct on iPad.)

At first I thought bottle in wrong place but checked shelf tag and confirmed. Owner said it was very rare.

I bought one a few weeks ago in Houston @38. I tried it, and it didn't strike me as a standout barrel, so I left the rest on the shelf.

Just got back from VA (visiting the fam for the 4th) and its always on the shelf there! Not my personal favorite, so an easy pass at $33

damn, i would have bought every bottle on the shelf if I seen it but I really like it. I got one bunkered I am trying not to open.

Which is why its so hard to find (and a signal that the retail price is too low).

What is the going price in the northeast?  I went in to my local and was shocked to see it.  It was $60.  I used to pay $37-ish when we could get it, back when Elmer T picked them.

That a reasonable price.  I thought it should be less but guess I'm living in the past.   Still a quality bourbon?

Yeah - the price variations are crazy!  My five local liquor stores have it - anywhere from $32.95 to $59.95 depending on which store - and they are all within 15 miles. The average now seems to be $39.95

When I see it now, it is $35.99. I was buying it 2 summers ago for $24.99, so I pass on it now.

Yep, used to pay around $27, and it was plentiful on the shelves.

The big chains still list it around $32, but of course they never actually have it available.

Yep. Last bottle I bought in OH was $31.99 a year ago. Have not seen another bottle since. When they don't have it, they should sell it for ten cents.

Earlier this year I could not find it for less than $80.  Then this month I have found it ranging from $30 to $45 in Massachusetts and Texas.

Say what?!  You mean I shouldn't have paid $80 plus tax for this?  I looked for weeks and finally found one in OC.  I just assumed since it was a big retail store that I was paying MSRP.  Clearly not!

yikes, that's like double what it is now...  but then again you just said "OC" so I think that seems about right for that area!

Hobbit - we've all been there!  It's worth what you're willing to pay for it.  I have several bottles in my collection (only been doing this for three months) that I paid twice MSRP.  But, I WANTED THEM!

I traded online a $70 bottle of bourbon for one ETL - then found three bottles at a local liquor store the next day ON SALE for $29.95 ea:wacko:

Cheers!

BTW: For anyone who tasted a recent release, is it still good?  Since Elmer T is not selecting the barrels anymore, I wonder who is and if quality has fallen off.

Thank you Starhopper!  I just started buying late November, so I missed out on all the nice stuff.  I just hope hubby likes these bottles as much as I like hunting for them.

I've had releases from the past year and it's been good to me, but I've only started drinking bourbon maybe 3 years ago so I don't know how it used to be before ETL passed away in 2013.
