2 750ml Fighting Cock 103 just because I haven't seen it recently.  If I'd known my EWBIB was so low I would've picked up a family size of that as well.

Another Toogie's Invitation (Booker's).

I stopped at a high end liquor store I rarely get to any more, and asked after a few limited releases without any expectations.    They of course were kind and sympathetic; but had nothing to say about any of 'em.     I did see a single Booker's bottle on the top shelf behind the counter, and asked which batch it was.    The counter guy didn't seem to know what I was talking about, so I asked to see the bottle.    It turned out to be Toogie's.     I have a couple; but, am quite fond of this batch, and decided to try a bit of diplomacy.     I said I'd buy their last bottle of Booker's, if he'd add me to the list for at least a call when a couple of the rare ones showed up.     I have no illusions.     I rarely patronize this store, and didn't recognize the counter guy or the other fellow who seemed to be preparing an order for stock down the counter a ways.    I was surprised at the friendly manner of the counter guy who took my telephone number and said I'd probably get a call next Friday.     I'll be pleasantly surprised if that happens; but, who knows.    In any case an 'extra' Toogie's isn't a bad thing at retail.

Visiting Minneapolis today, if you happen to be in the area, highly suggest visiting the new Total Wine & Spirits in Eagan.

Picked up a 750 of Makers for 18.99, 2 750's of Knob Creek Small Batch 9 year for 26.49 each, and a Glenmorangie 750 gift set with 2 metal cups for 27.99.  Great prices compared to what I normally have in Iowa.

I picked up a FRSB gift set Friday. I had finished off the Kentucky Spirit the night before (I only keep one bottle of bourbon on hand at a time) and stopped at a little liquor store on the way home just to see what they had. Well, they had the gift sets for about $36 out the door. I payed almost $60 for the last bottle of FRSB after the 20.5% + $3.77 per litre sales tax in my god forsaken state. So I thought that was a pretty good deal.

The Four Roses SB is quite consistent for a SB, the HMcK is less so, but can occasionally offer stellar Bourbon for the coin.    Either way, both are great choices, and rather different whiskies.   Enjoy the new experiences!

My wife was lucky enough to score an ORVW, her number was one of the last to be picked in the Van Winkle lottery.

I don't think this qualifies as a dusty, so posting here.

Came across a Henry McKenna 10 Year BiB barreled in November 2000, priced the same as a new bottle. I like this older label with the little 'Bottled in Bond' medal better than the current one so I decided to grab it, even though the higher price here in Japan makes it not quite the value it is in the states.

The Henry McK 10 year is one of my favorites. Most of what I've had has been fairly consistent. The 4Roses SiB is a good pour, but is about $10-$15 more than the Henry McK here.

Got a Belle Meade Single Barrel Cask Strength that is a Virginia ABC Selection (Barrel 2053). It was expensive at $68, but is really nice and I may track down another. They don't appear to be going fast around here since it's a bit expensive and I imagine many people don't realize the Belle Meade single barrels are much better than the standard release.

Port Finish 1792

For some strange reason, I cannot put this bottle down.  A bit dry, a bit of fruit, and a bit of classic Barton taste...perfect!
