Plus that particular run of OBSO was stellar. That was one of the first ones bottled from warehouse US. The end of that run was JR's last gift shop bottle, a glorious nearly 12 year OBSO. Interesting. To be fair, I left more of mine out for almost 45 minutes and when I came back to it, it was much better. I think I forgot to follow my own 1st rule of 4R: air time. Some of my less than good bottles at initial opening become some of my favorites with lots of air time. I think with time this will improve. I would say that while OBSO is not my favorite recipe, it is a very interesting one to show off how drastically different the recipes can be from each other. Fun times. Clueby
Some OFBIB tonight. We polished off a bourbon cream tonight and I set it there for the ubiquitous empty bottle pic and since I was so close....it called to me. I grabbed another one of these last week. Left one on the shelf. I get a spearminty note with this that I really like. I know it shares dna with Larceny but I don't get the acetone with this that I get from Larceny. elmossle
Tonight started with some '14 ORVW 10yr which is some damn fine juice. I have never been a fan of the Rip 10yr, but this stuff is killer and disappearing very quickly. Struggled the decision for my next pour and finally ended up with a good pour of 1792 High Rye. Needless to say, the tastebuds are going to bed happy tonight.

The spearmint / Doublemint gum taste of Old Fitzgerald BIB is one of my favorite aspects of it. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

I have the same love hate relationship with McKenna SB 10 yr. BIB. My first taste of it, right out of the bottle was like tasting fingernail polish remover (well, what I assume fingernail polish remover to taste like). After giving it a few minutes to open up it was an entirely different taste profile.

Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk I didn't get mint from SA Contradiction. I didn't get much that I liked from it other than the nose. The mix of wheater and rye bourbon just didn't seem to mix for me. You could pick weird things out individually and it never seemed to make a cohesive, balanced blend. I don't believe I have ever had OBSF recipe on it's own but dcbt's assessment makes me think it would be something I would enjoy.
GeeTen
I think this cold DC weather is giving me a cold - having a healthy pour of OWA with dark black tea right now. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll have to bring out the big guns and open my newly-bought 1792FP. Better medicine than Nyquill, yes?
whiskeyagonzo
First time in a LS in I don't know how long. Came home with this 1920. Not too shabby. Certainly better than OFBB IMO. At least the past 4-5 years anyway.

OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
This bottle of Russell's Reserve 10 Year is about to go the empty bottle support group. I am sure am glad it was the February bourbon of the month. It may now be my favorite affordable bourbon (probably tied with EC and Four Roses Single Barrel right now).Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
HoustonNit
^RR10 is on my short list. I'm fighting some type of virus but once I get better plan on making a trip to a store where I saw RR10 for $26 and some store select Smooth Ambler Scout single barrel at 11 years and over 100 proof.
