Enjoying Elliott's Select (14 yr. OESK) along with a 10 yr. OBSK. I really like the Elliott's Select. Vanilla is very strong on the nose and the front palate.

My wife has us in Ballroom Dancing too. I agreed solely to make her happy. She moves like no other & I'm so so on the dance floor. Anyways, A drink is usually required for me before we go also. You Know. To loosen up a little. At least that's what I tell her! Enjoy your time tonight. Happy Wife Happy Life!!! :)

Jeff

Amen, Brother.  42 years and counting as of May 26th, and I wouldn't trade those years (well, the best 38 of them - her joke, not mine) for anything.

EDIT - Well, I'm still working (pleasantly) on my honey bottle of HMcK 10YR BIB #2498.  I am SO GLAD I have another six or so of #2498 in the bunker.  Sipped on it while cooking fried rainbow trout fillets on the grill (beer batter fish dropped in 350F 1/4" canola oil in an iron skillet for 3 minutes a side).  That was after grilling sliced zucchini over the hotter, early part of the coals.  Salad was lettuce and radishes from our garden.  Watching Nats v. Phillies on TV.

I am content.

Trying to find a group of four or five bottles $30 or less to keep on the shelf, just when you think you have it figured out something comes in and surprises you. Did a blind taste of these, started off with WT101 to dial me in and not blind and part of the tasting.

Last time I did this HMBiB was towards the bottom and ER10 was at the top, this time it was flipped and HM was at the top and ER10 was second to last behind BT. Another surprise was KCSmB100 store pick was 2nd.

I had some of the HM earlier today and knew it was special, looks like I'll need to get more of this bottle if I can find it same for the store select KC. No rush for another ER10. Will chalk it up to barrel variations.

All this being said they where all enjoyable and would be very happy with any of these.

Nice! Did you ever do a SBS with the 15 & 16?

Cheers,

Jeff

Hey Jeff

I will plan to do it, but i suck at reviewing. i could do it tonight but i just received a bottle of 1792 Full Proof (big thx to a fellow member of SB from my side of the ocean) that i've ordered last week and i'm gonna open it tonight. I'll do the WLW showdown this week. Spoiler alert, both are great. :P

Cheers!

Will.

Last night was a healthy pour of OWA followed by a local store pick of Old Scout 10 yr barrel proof bourbon. Both were firing on all cylinders after dinner last night. I thought the pasta and chianti were good but the bourbons really shined.

Friday night was a healthy pour of the latest batch of ECBF.  Still wearing it's proof proudly.  It's taking some getting used to.  Seems fairly oak forward to me.  Saturday night was a pour of Bulleit 10 year followed by a pour of my son's bottle of 1792 Full Proof.

I wish I could be enjoying my newly acquired OWA more.  I've had a couple of pours already and I have to say I'm a little underwhelmned.   Maybe a few more will do the trick :D but my trusty BT and now SAOS are still in my sweet spot.

I just bought a couple bottles of HMckBiB and they're from barrel 2905, bottled 08/29/06...just three barrels previous to yours and bottled the same day.  So with luck the barrel was sitting near yours and will be just as good. =)

Hopefully so I was really surprised how much more I enjoyed this bottle vs. my previous one.

ECBP 136. Straight in a glencairn.  Wow.  Everything you love about bourbon, just amplified.  Its got that savory character that I love.  Wood (obviously), sweetness, salted caramel.  A little smoke in the background.  Its not subtle.   Made a concentrated effort to clear the bar and get a fresh selection of whiskies to get my head around.  The second new bourbon to open after a couple of new rye's (Old Maysville Club and Pikesville), the first was an FR PS OESK from World Beverages in Atlanta 9Y/11M. Feeling pretty good about life right now.

Went in a weird order tonight, but it worked.  Started with Stagg Jr and finished with Pappy 20.

Having a healthy pour of MM PS from my go to LS. About 1/3 of the way through this bottle and it is really opening up. It gets better  every time I go back to it.

DW and I  pre-made Mother's Day brunch, drove it out a few hours to my Mom's house, then set up, cooked, and served from her kitchen.  She was very pleasantly surprised, and she didn't lift a finger (neither did the other four moms present).  Cleaned up, packed up and drove it home in time for a late dinner.  I'm exhausted now...

Mission accomplished, and I'm having a tot of OGDBiB before bed.

I'm enjoying some old charter 8 year/dickel rye blend. I'm convinced oc8 blends well with everything. (I've mixed it with lots)

Hmm will need to try this. The OC8yr also mixes really well with OC8YR as well.

First time having old fitz BIB really enjoy it

I had some of that tonight as well. For sure the best bottle you can get under $20 if you can still find it. I only know of one place I can get it, so I might need to stock a few extra in the bunker

Nice representation across distilleries.  While ER10 is an easier find these days than it was a year or two ago, you are still hard pressed to find it for under $30.  Most places price it at $39.99.  When it comes in to TW every couple months I'll grab one at $28.99.  I used to drink KC a lot but the NAS and the Beam "funk" has pushed me to other stuff.  I'll still have it occasionally at a bar.  Same with WT101. I don't typically keep it at home but its always a good bar alternative.  Out of what you have displayed I would probably pick HMCK as my favorite but I haven't done the sbs tasting like that before.

Also goes well on the golf course in my golf bag flask.
