Yeah, somebody always seem to have a positive review every year. The brandy finish last year(?) wasn't bad. Especially for a $50-60 whiskey...

Got a text from the better half saying she picked me up a fall release at the LS. I wasn’t prepared for the pic that followed. Clearly I have failed in sharing bourbon knowledge.

At least she's trying! I got yelled at because it was inconceivable how anyone can spend $700 on one bourbon purchase... (It was GTS, WLW, ER17, THH, PHC 11, and EC18)

Give her A for effort I guess. She spent a whole 17 bucks but the LS told her it was only available in October and November. lol

The only one I am aware of is the Aviary Bar that is connected to Next downtown.  Is that what you are thinking of as well?  This was found in a liquor store in Shiller Park (you can PM for store name) and the owner said they just arrived in place of her normal ER order.  In fact, she pulled out a case from yesterday's order and all six bottles plus the box had the Aviary sticker.  

 

Anyone with more knowledge regarding PS bottles have an explanation as to why a very high end restaurant's barrel select would be sent back to the distributor?

a few interesting finds yesterday. four roses 69 and 90's ish and some birds brought back from italy along with the michters toasted.

At least she's trying! I got yelled at because it was inconceivable how anyone can spend $700 on one bourbon purchase... (It was GTS, WLW, ER17, THH, PHC 11, and EC18) 

Fortunately I take care of all the bills, so I'm unlikely to get yelled at for any specific purchase, but I get scowls and snarky comments for just having too much scotch and bourbon in general. Having said that, if I were able to buy all of those at one time in my area, the bill would likely be quite a bit larger than that, so congrats on a great purchase!

Fortunately I went to the casino and coincidentally won $700 in the poker room last Friday! Makes me wonder if maybe the poker gods and bourbon gods are in cahoots!

I grabbed a WTKS SP today.  I don't get to the other side of town where the mega-stores are very often.  Wife took the day off and we ran some errands, including several LS stops.  Really surprised that I didn't even an eye-roll, since she isn't a bourbon drinker, and doesn't shop with me normally (by my design).

Wow! That is an unbelievable price for W12! That's what WSR sells for in most places around here. The cheapest I found W12 for was $34.99 plus tax!

Fall season has been very very good so far. The GTS and WLW are 2017. The THH are 2016 that sat on the shelf marked up way over retail and I bought when the price dropped in August or September, I forget which. The GTS will soon be appearing in the ‘what bourbon are you drinking tonight’ thread... I paid $200 each.

Your post convinced me I needed to go pick up some OC101 and give it a try...Its good stuff. A big cherry cough syrup and honey note (but in a good way). I may have to pick another one up for the bunker before they disappear.
