Sitting down to watch the Bucks with a pour of OGD 114. I'm thinking some ND OGD is on deck.

Couple small pours while watching a little football.

A KCSB from NASA liquor followed by a ECBP pour.

The KC seems off but the ECBP is tasting great today.

They did but right now our secondary couldn't stop a Jr. High team.  Lamar and 3 receivers can't beat an entire team.

Pre-tailgate UK vs. Mizzou round 2: pours of Wathens (for me, I think it drinks hot and is fair), and my buddies have Cooper's Craft and Willett. Cheers!7c1e26654f32afaf40b1cd9840c58e2d.jpg

Sipping on that ND OGD 86 proof. While it lives up to its butterscotch reputation,  it also tastes young. I have been nursing this 375 for some time. When it is empty, I will open a 6yr old 86 proofer for comparison.

Decanted a Bookers 2013-6 which finally hit the halfway point after being opened over three years ago. And to celebrate the occasion, enjoying a healthy pour of it!

Ha last time I had this was on also on a flight to lovely Midland Tx, better than the Jack alternative.

Also surprised Aria does its own picks of 4R. What specific bar was it? I'm guessing this is t something on the casino floor.

The bar is named Sage and yes it's in the casino at Aria.  It was a good bottle and at only $12 or $13 easily the best value at that expensive bar.  I'll probably go back for more tonight unless I'm out with the group somewhere else late.  On that note, time to hit the casinos now.

Had a great time at SF WhiskyFest last night with Bruce (tanstaafl2) and some other whiskey-loving friends. The 4R Al Young, new PHC, and Compass Box Phenomenology were among the standouts.

Here’s our crew with Jimmy and Eddie Russell:

James Pepper 1776 bourbon, 100 proof, no age statement.

Not bad for the price at all, which was $32 plus tax. Very sweet and fruity on the palate with some white pepper. One of the few bourbons I wasn’t familiar with that I’ve tried recently that’s actually not overpriced given the quality of the juice.

Went back to the Sage bar at the Aria. Led off with something new for me, Redbreast 15 and I quite enjoyed it. Now back to bourbon, areturn to last night's 4RSiB PS Aria OBSV. Nice.  To add to the experience there is a really cool string duo playing great tunes. Metallica on strings?  F-ing great!

Happy Birthday!  Do you have any comments on the 2017 OFBB?  (Forgive me if you've posted your impressions elsewhere.)

On the nose I got orange with a small bit of acetone.  The acetone dissipated rather quickly but the orange hung around.  On the tongue I got the same orange.  Not a huge amount and not objectionable.  Medium oily thickness with a finish of smoky oak.  Very good and if I can find a bottle of it I will buy it (at a reasonable price).

What I didn't like about it . . . well they have a very extensive bourbon list there and our server, when she found out we were celebrating my birthday said they had the 2017 Birthday Bourbon I thought . . . hey it's my birthday, why not, so I ordered it, without asking the price.  When our bill came I saw it was $27.  It was good but I'm not sure it was THAT good.  Oh well, it was my birthday celebration so what the hell.

I am a bit disappointed in myself for saying this, but that sounds like a reasonable price for a LE. Man, what has the world come to....

Also, happy birthday!
