Haha I'm sorry! Have you tried it before? I get jealous when I see others posting good bourbon and rye that we don't get here.

I'm enjoying some normal lot 40 tonight.

Living in TX I don't really have access to the CS version.  I love Lot 40, but I always felt it was underproofed. Rye gets huge benefit from higher ABV.

Here, I'll console myself with these two US released Canadian gems that I grabbed on a road trip just now...

Nice addition to the rye choices at your house. I've got younger versions of both of those.

Is this NAS? If so, any idea what the age of the juice is?
Yes this one in NAS. I've read some articles stating that it's a blend of 7-10 years, definitely a minimum of 7 years. The cask strength version has an age statement of 12 years. If you can find this one I would definitely try it.

You're right. The CS 55% variant just brings out the muted flavors you taste from the normal lot 40. I think it's the same way with other whiskey that offer 40/45 and barrel proof offerings.

I've never seen those ones before. They look good! Supposedly crown royal, another Canadian whiskey brand offers barrel proof versions in the US, but not in Canada. Why???

Me, too-- plus I've even got the wacky cousins. The Cooper family and rye go back quite a ways.

Jacquin's Rock and Rye used to be my go to cough/sore throat remedy. I haven't seen it in a while.

8 year old Pensilvania distilled Old Overholt, my friend sent the last of a bottle that she discovered at her father's house. It had likely been open for decades. I don't usually take detailed notes but this one seemed important.

Color: Tawny, or so says my wife

Nose: Mint/mentol, raisen, spice, cherry cough syrup

Palate: Sweet, spice, oak, more oak, nuttiness, astringent bitter tea

Finish: Long, oak, fruit, reminds me of cognac or armagnac

Overall really nice.

This looks really nice.

Beam has been taking the lead with Rye introductions recently, which takes me back to this (ri)1.  I always thought it was a better whiskey than it’s douchey hipster mixologist packaging suggested.  A nice 92 proofer with ample spicinees that upped their game before KC Rye came out and upped it further.  Price was terrible, too, but can find at discounted $20ish numbers.

Yeah not actually "American" but picked this up while tooling around Centralish PA this weekend out of curiosity for $20, this is actually pretty solid and I suspect it would make a real nice Manhattan.

Man, I like dill in my MGP whiskey...but not for that price. For like, $30. At $450-500, it should at least be as good as SAOS cask strength rye, or AMwND.

If they ever do a "c'mon man!!" for whiskey bottles this will surely be at the top of the list.

Peerless Rye with a toasted bagel w/Philadelphia smoked salmon cream cheese.  This is a killer combo!  I still like the Peerless Rye.  Won't buy another for the price, but it has the elements...

The coffee line at the Delta Sky Club was too long, so I opted for a double (plus) of WP10 in the biggest Glencairn I've seen to date. On my way to Grand Rapids-- hoping there's a good LS in town.

Been quiet for awhile, and was in a rut. Opened this to share to lift my spirits.

Glad to have you back Brent. It's a little hard to tell, but that looks like a 2008 FR's Mariage to me. If so, niiiiiiiice! :P

Sippin' a couple of my favorite ryes tonight.  Both are great, but something about that Owl, it's addictive.

Couple new pickups today, looking forward to giving them both a try. Looked like the High West bottle had been there awhile. I haven’t tried the Rendezvous before but love the Double Rye.
