I was enjoying a couple of rye whiskies earlier, now this Jim Beam Distiller's Cut I'm drinking now has a nice peanut butter finish that I've never noticed before. Gotta love the situational palate!

Doing a SBS comparison of 3 BIBs. I’m assuming 4 Roses SiB as BiB. Am I incorrect with this assumption? All 3 are great and unique in their own way.

You are not. It technically meets the definition.

Evan Williams BiB--seems to me, if you're going to buy Evan Williams, you might as well buy the BiB as its 100 proof and maybe a bit different than the regular, but you might as well get something else. Possibly 4RYL or bump up some dollars to various decent bourbons.

Some EC12 (I had a 1.75 of the rear stated 12 that I poured into the big red 12 bottle). This is my first time using this drinking vessel that I got on our honeymoon 6 weeks ago. I prefer a glencairn, but this one's good as well (so far).

20180612_194400.jpgdid you honeymoon in Peru? I've been there and at Macchu Picchu.

Last night I enjoyed the heck out of Larceny. After a number of less than satisfactory experiences with it I decided to give it another shot when I cam across a good deal. This is the bottle Ive been blending into the bitter RY10 that I have as well.

Hmmmm.......may have to consider adding this back to the rotation.

For National Bourbon Day I started with an Old Forester Original Batch, followed with a William Heavenhill BIB from a few years back and finishing with a FRLESmB 2013.

Starting on this first sample (thanks @Masset1982), John J. Bowman, Single Barrel 100 proof. Pretty tasty, nice spice, vanilla, cinnamon, nice finish/smooth burn. Don't see this in GJ.

Had a taste of Davidson Rye PS  100 proof tonite. Not bad but I don't know that I'd buy a bottle.

Drinking a large pour of a 10.5 year KCSB that a local shop picked a while back. Not quite as much oak as some of the stellar 14-15 year old KCSBs but it’s still damn good

A coworker of mine just got back from a week-long hike in Peru that ended in Machu Picchu - same trip?

Instead of hiking the Inca Trail, we took a train there from Ollantaytambo. We would've rather hiked, but we would've needed to be there for a few days earlier to acclimate to the high elevation.

Of course Machu Picchu is amazing, but just being in the Andes Mountains was incredible. They're much different than what we have in North America.

I had a very good week, even though it was hot, so to start the weekend off right I’m having a very good pour of ECBP

After trying the boozy Barrell Infinite Whiskey at the LS, this one certainly qualifies as "enjoying." Could use a bit more body, but it's well balanced and thankfully not as sweet as I expected. Nice little spicy zip to it.

Lost prophet. Found it pretty good although little more oak and not as integrated as the old blowhard which I greatly prefer from the orphan barrel line.

Don't want to mislead Adam777 here.  Four Roses Single Barrel is not a bonded bourbon.  Yes it shares some of the aspects of being bottled in bond but perhaps not all.  Like "produced in a single season" for one.  Even the warehouses where bonded bourbons are stored have specifics on location.  Its a fine product and one of my favorites but it is not bottled in bond.  Any BIB will state that on the label conspicuously.

It’s a single barrel product though so it is produced in a single season. What are the specific requirements on location? I don’t recall this requirement.

Tell me more about this multi-season single barrel. :)

I wasn't saying that it was bonded, just that it met all the definitions and could be if it wanted to.

Interesting. I did think they would state BIB, but I at least thought it made the criteria of being aged 4 years considering the barrel strength store picks are around 9-11 years from my experience.

Now that I will agree with , my concern was that Adam had taken away the thought that the 4R is a BIB.  I am sure there are several whiskies that could qualify to be BIB if they felt it was good for marketing their brand and they wanted the additional restrictions.  You Flahute are a leader here on SB and would not give someone misinformation.  I knew what you were saying, but felt Adam needed more explanation on his question.  Single Season was an example of one of the many regulations on being labeled as a BIB.  Single Barrel would seem to be the definition of single season.  But is it ?  If distillate from June 30th and a later date were contained in the same barrel would it not then be a violation of BIB requirements.  Some forces believe that BIB is archaic and unnecessary, what is your opinion ?
