Too expensive, tasted like old wet wool socks.  What, and why did you pass it up?

Uh, went to a local place for "burger night".  They had a beer list - all AmBev Bud offerings.  So, I asked for a Manhattan on rocks.  "What's in a Manhattan?" asks the server.  I told him.  "We have no rye."  I asked what the rail bourbon was.  Smiling, he says, "Old Crow!"  After gagging, I asked what other bourbon they had.  "Woodford something."  OK, I figure.  The Manhattan arrives - bartender made it with dry vermouth.  I drank it anyway.  IN SUM, I passed on Old Crow.  Next time (like, day after tomorrow), I'll enrich AmBev.  Yeah, the burgers are THAT GOOD.

Sounds like you need to bring a flask.

WT 101 in a Snow Peak, but the wife frowns on my offering it to bartenders to supplement their meager offerings.B)  And, drinking in the bathroom suggests I have a problem.  Which I don't so I don't, especially when driving.  So, it gets used when I'm fishing.

Well, I'm off work for a few days. :) Today, I ran a couple of errands and picked up some groceries. Of course while out and about, I had to stop at the liquor store. Well, four of 'em to be exact.  I saw a number of things that were tempting, but I passed on everything. Yeah, I know. <_<

When I was done, I texted my wife to let her know that I was home. She asked me what I bought. (FWIW, I knew she meant bourbon.) I told her I didn't even buy one bottle. She texted me back. "Who are you?!?" Four stores, lot's of good stuff, some at decent prices and zero bottles. I reckon that kinda says it all.

Passed on the previous style bottle of Elijah Craig small batch because I couldn't find the 12 yr age statement on it. I guess there was a period of time where it went NAS before the bottle redesign?

Well the price is definitely fair so I guess it depends if you like 12 year old heaven hill juice at barrel strength. For me, it's one of my favorites so I'm a buyer at that price.

I actually liked that version a little better than the 12 year and the current NAS.

I have been carry a wad of money but nothing seems to pique my interest.  I have been in several stores in several cities but nothing has gone home with me.  It has been a month or two since I last bought something.  However, I feel a buying spree brewing.  I am starting to develop a buy list in my mind.  The question is when will I find something to getting the buying started?

My wife says I am becoming to cheap and pricing myself out of the market.  I say I can find what I like for around $25 so I don't mind window shopping until I find something worth buying.

Yes! You have.  :-)  It's fantastic!  Definitely worth a try.  The best of the 2017 batches, IMO.

Passed up on some ECBP C917 priced at $74.99. Here in Michigan there is a state minimum, but vendors can charge above that. The LS said it’s priced at the state minimum and I said the state minimum is $59.99 listed on state of Michigan’s website. They said I was wrong. I’m fine you telling me this is a allocated item, so we priced as such due to limited quantity, but don’t lie to me.

Oh well I have 2 full bottles and working on another one right now. Go and get that bottle CUfan99!

There were two things that intrigued me enough to almost bite on. They were store picks of WTKS and WTRB. I have to admit that it’s been quite a while since I’ve had any WT in my cabinets, so I may have to go back some time soon and grab one of each. Part of the reason for second guessing myself on these is something that happened on the way home from work last Monday. I had just left work and was slowing down for a stop light when a small flock of a half a dozen wild turkeys casually crossed the road in front of me. An omen perhaps?

If you end up like me then just about the time the money situates itself then the whiskeys that interest you will be fewer and farther between. [emoji53]

Honestly I can’t fathom such a day. It just doesn’t compute. I’m married with 3 daughters and haven’t even tried scotch!

Stopped at some store while out in the semi-western burbs. Not much bourbon. Almost grabbed a Glenkenchie 10 that hasnt been bottled since '06 or '07.

Passed on some Weller 12.  Went to a local chain to grab some beer and one of the workers knew I was a bourbon guy and said they had some Weller 12, but I passed to let the next guy have a chance at some.  I still have a few in the bunker and I have been preferring the OWA lately anyway.

Farmstock being the same price as Decades is the real shocker here...
