Billy Reis
Passed on a Blantons for $58, mostly because I've been spending too much lately and I have an unopened btl ready to go.

That adds up to about $3000 a bottle for ORVW 10 year. Just insane.

The 1.5 oz pours are more than the MSRP for an entire bottle.
Vosgar
Just when you think you can no longer be surprised something like this comes along. Sheesh. How much was the BT?
Dabbings
2 buffalo trace neat and 1 bud light were $39 so, still pricey, but quite a value vs those!
mbroo5880i
Passed on WSR and JBDC. I didn't see the prices but this store doesn't mark up bottles significantly above MSRP. If anyone in the Indy area is interested, PM me.

Whiskey Lullaby
Passed on this RR SiB for $50 this afternoon. I don’t recognize the label, when was this in print?

Ooohhh! the first label. That is 2014 juice so it most likely went into the barrel at 110. The RRsib that got me hooked on that line was a rando old label in run of the mill mom and pop joint. I’d take a chance on that one.

They had 3 of them on the shelf...they were dusty, for sure. What would make this different or better than the RR SiB that I already have at home with the current label? I only ask cause my bourbon funds are limited. Thanks!

I did this tasting a month or so ago. I liked the old label the least amount, but the other 2 are store picks from 2 stores that pick really good bourbons. Basically what I’m saying is that since it’s a Single barrel you can’t guarantee it will or won’t be from a honey barrel, but it is likely really good.

Adam777
I’m thinking about passing up HW’s Midwinter Nights Dram act 5 scene 4. Can’t believe I saw it. It’s going for $100, but I’m having 2nd thoughts due to the price. Is this worth picking up? Help a fellow bourbonite out. Cheers!

This was my most disappointing purchase of 2017, and I didn't pay anywhere near that price. Just came across as docile-- finished without a delivery.

I’m thinking I’ll purchase and maybe break into it on a special occasion or trade if I fancy something else. I did hear it was really unique. What act/scene was yours?

I was excited to get an act 5 scene 2 this year. It is good but not for what I paid and not one I’ll look to replace. Mine is about half gone, most of that sent out in sample swaps. Finished whiskey isn’t really my thing but your mileage may vary.

Thanks for your input. This is going into the bourbon I purchased today based on the uniqueness and ability to trade samples. I also almost passed on another goody, but I bought instead. I’m so weak!

That 'old label' was very likely put in the barrel at the lower proof, and those are almost always very nice. There is no guarantee; but, I'd grab all three; or at least take one out in parking lot, open that sucka up and try it, with the idea of going back to grab the other two when it turns out to be stellar. Your option, of course.

Charlutz
OWA@$69.99. I was very sad as it was at one of my regular stores that used to always put stuff out on the shelf at retail prices. Baby Saz @$53 and Stagg Jr. @69.99. #sad!
