I was thinking just the opposite and hoping to find one of these bottles upon release— anticipating a distinctive, polarizing blend.

Like Malort!  Distinctive and polarizing.  There are those who despise it.  And then, there are those who simply hate it...  ?

Made the mistake of reading these posts while eating my pizza for lunch and all of a sudden the pizza started tasting like shit. The power of Malort is truly amazing....

I'm wondering about that "Woodford Five wood".   How do they count the 'woods'?   I mean new American Oak since it is Bourbon; that's ONE.   Sherry casks; that's TWO.   Port Casks; that's THREE.

Do they shuttle the whiskey back and forth between those wine casks?    (So, maybe the Bourbon is in each type twice?)   (Or are those wine barrels assembled from two different types of woods?)

The labels don't explain... or at least I didn't feel it was explained.

Anybody?

Anybody?

Back in about 1966 when I was in Math class in "college", we studied this "combinations" vs. "permutations" idea.  It was something like 1 2 3 4 is a "combination" but it became a permutation if you did stuff like 1 3 2 4 or 1 4 2 3 etc.  I never did figure out "C" vs. "P" other than that there were a shitload more P's than C's.  SO, when the whole Makers Mark stave crap arose, I dug out my old math books to see if I could figure out WTH they talking about.  I couldn't.

APPROVED SOLUTION - Ask the Seller if you can taste them before buying. IF YES, buy what you like.  IF NO, walk away.   That's a pretty easy flowchart we ALL can follow.

BY THE WAY, anybody else out there get redirect to https://www.responsibility.org/ whenever you try to access the MM website?  FWIW, I have NO intention of sharing ANY of my stash with anybody not old enough to appreciate it.  EDIT - I just wish the responsibility people believed me so I could get to the MM website.

It appears to be the same age statement that Very Old St. Nick has been recently using for their summer rye offerings.?

They also replaced "small batch," which was directly under Elijah Craig, with "barrel proof.

Although I much liked the previous bottle more (other than the cork that never properly fit), I kinda like this label more than what's currently there.

By using all 3 BT mashbills, the EH Taylor 18yr looks intriguing. The chances of finding one will probably be slim, but a guy can hope, can't he?

Yeah, count me in as well!

If this has been properly curated by a discerning palate(s), and that person or group has access to all best barrels at the appropriate age(s) (and we all know how much great Bourbon is resting around that campus, don't we?) this just about has to be a MUST HAVE Bottle, eh?   Another unicorn for BT to hawk.....

I'd really like to get a bottle of the RR 2003 because a) low barrel entry proof b) it ended up with a lower barrel proof, and that always intrigues me c) age d) I love WT. What the label doesn't say is if it is or isn't non-chill filtered. As for the FR, I miss the days when they listed the age and recipes used to make the whiskey on the back of the bottle. You never knew the percentages and in the long run it didn't really matter, but I still enjoyed having the info.

I have been way behind on these but enjoyed the hell out of catching up. Looks like in addition to GD 11 yr BIB, I will be buying a good deal of rye in 2020. WT RB, 101 in a 750, J.E. Pepper, New Riff peated Rye to name a few that caught my eye.
