mbroo5880i
Solid pour of a woodford store select, followed by a solid pour of EC store select. I see another pour on deck, just need to decide what.

Vosgar
2017 GTS in the glass tonight. While it's not one of my favorite Stagg's, bringing it down to around 105 proof makes it pretty damn good
PaulO
This ET BIB is definitely in my wheelhouse. No big surprise, since I'm a fan of bonded whiskey. This stuff has a thick mouth feel, and a finish that goes on and on. It reminds me of a slightly less sweet version of the JD Single Barrel Select.
Clueby
These new bottlings are really good. The nose is fantastic. This is still my desert island bourbon.

BigRich
I was have some quiet dad time while the Mrs and my girls were at the in-laws. I gobbled my way through the rest of my last wood-top-post-Austin-Nichols-pre-squat- bottle of Kentucky Spirit. Then I needed a night cap.

They usually have stellar store picks. The name may have changed but it is on Crescent right off the interstate. Well, we were really just going down for a day trip. I live about 2.5 hours north of Cincinnati. (actually closer to 3 hours when travelling with my wife and kids :D) Thanks for the suggestion. Next time I am visiting, I will have to check that store out. I did make it to Party Source, and I bought a bottle of the HH 6 year bourbon. I will probably crack that open tonight and try it out. I also purchased some 50 ml bottles. I bought KC small batch, New Riff, Four Roses Single barrel, and BT. I tried a small amount, ~0.5 oz, of KC, New Riff and Four Roses. I thought the KC was good, but it seemed to give me a bit of lingering heartburn. Not just the short burn finish that bourbon gives. This seemed to last approx. 20 min. Even though it was pretty tasty, I don't know if it is worth that. I still have a lot of the small bottle left, so I will give it another try. I was not impressed with Four Roses. I don't know that I would buy it based on this little sample. I actually found New Riff quite pleasant. It was a little on the sweeter side, which is what I like. I didn't notice too much harshness in this. It may be worth a bottle, but I need to finish off a few before I go buying much more! LCWoody
The JPS 17, &18y the best that Jefferson’s had to offer, ( maybe some of the earlier Jef. VO 15y were as good) but I have liked all the JPS offerings. Last night I got home late and wanted one glass before bed so I poured a JPS 16y and was very surprised that it was hitting all the right notes. The most I’ve enjoyed this bottle sense I’ve opened it. Very good.
jwperry
Whoa, time to get the big boy pants on! Like someone made a luge out of a slab of oak and poured this one down. Even after I added some spring water, this still fought back. Gotta find the sweet spot with this one. This year's A release was a bit hard to swallow. I ended up blending mine with standard NAS EC. The B release is phenomenal.

Curious if you happen to be relatively new to bourbon sipping? The reason I ask is that's it's a quite common response to those new to bourbon when trying four Roses (the single barrel and small batch expressions especially). Lots of veterans on here had the same reaction to 4R when they first started and now they are big fans with large collections of their various recipes. It has a very high rye content which makes it an acquired taste for most. I'd recommended setting it aside for now and maybe come back to it later once you explore other things.

Yes, I am new to bourbon sipping. I definitely won't write it off forever, but I don't care for it at this point. Your advice is sound and I do appreciate it! I will definitely revisit it in time. I cracked the HH 6 year bourbon today. It was OK. It didn't seem particularly complex. For my tastes, it is sippable, but it will probably be used as a mixer as well. 0895
Pour of WR or KC is $11 at the hotel bar. Lucky there’s a liquor store next door. Got this 375 for $15. It’s been awhile since I’ve had std. EC. Wow, this is really darn good. Just liquid caramel throughout with a little spice kick on the end. I’m already sad I can’t bring it home with me on the plane.

I’ll admit, I don’t get as much of an oak kick out of the NAS EC (at times) as compared to the 12 te AS version, but everything else has really shone well in the current iteration in every bottle and bar pour I’ve had. Funny, one of the reasons I got this was because of good things I read about this A119 release, but shows you how palates can differ.
