Poured the last of a FRYL bottle in a SB Glencairn to take outside with a cigar this afternoon (I really like the YL with cigars) but discovered the pour was a bit on the small side. Added some of a PS JR OBSK (9yr 9mo., 105.8p) to top it off and damn, this is very nice.

Long, hot and humid day at work. Got home from work and poured some of my 2018 Weller Blend. Ahhhhh. Just what the doctor ordered.  :)

With regards to my 2018 Weller Blend, and what I and others posted in the “What bottle did you open today” thread....

Most of you know that  I’m a Weller whore. I love ‘em all. Still, there is another factor involved here. It’s something I’ve referred to in the past with other bourbons that I call the three bears factor. Y’all remember Goldilocks and the three bears?  Here’s my “four bears” analogy when it comes to my blend.

Disclaimer: These are just my feelings. YMMV

Weller SR- This bourbon is bit too “light and sweet”.

Weller 12- This bourbon is just a tad too “Oakey”.

OWA- This bourbon is slightly “hot”

Joe’s 2018 Weller Blend-Ahhhh. This bourbon is just right.

There you have it. What more can I say?

Cheers, Biba, Enjoy!  Joe, aka the Weller whore. :D

I think we need to get you to tell this story at the next sampler in a blonde wig.

Rude awakening back in the States at JFK with a Double WRDO mistakenly served over ice. This liquid fares poorly when diluted.

A couple years ago I was out of town for work. At dinner I sat at the bar and ordered a Makers 46 neat (their selection was very limited). The barkeep brought my glass, and I could tell it was cold. He said "I figured you wanted it chilled, so I shook it in a shaker with some ice." I can confirm that MM46 also does not hold up well with ice.

That sir can be arranged. :o  Money talks. If everyone in attendance would be willing to donate $10.00 to a charity of my choosing, I’d gladly do it. Or, maybe split the money 50/50 between two charities. ;)

Criteria on my part: Someone needs to provide a blonde wig. Also needed are bottles of Weller SR, Weller 12, and OWA (preferably 2) provided by others, and I get to keep the leftovers. After all, I am the Weller whore.

Still not sure how I feel about this one.  Little hot.  Little spicy too for a wheater, which really doesn’t bother me.  It’s pretty much dirt cheap though, so cheers.

Turkey Tuesday! In addition to the bottle I keep my glass in the freezer. Always sip with a bottle of water then rinse and “clean” the glass with the bottles water. Last time I had a stroke of inspiration and left 1inch of water in the bottom to freeze. This is gooood and I’m patting myself on the back. Highly recommend for higher Proof freezer pours.

Pretty sure we can find three bears who can complain that someone's been drinking from THEIR bottle...

And a blue dress - I think I have one somewhere around here . . . . .  ?

I got the $10 covered, too!   ?

I'm bear #2.  Last night did the new and old.  New Riff SiB and OGD BIB.

Made an old fashioned last night, minus the orange rind, with Bulliet.  I like Bulliet better mixed than neat...

Tonight, I had a small pour of RR10.  It is growing on me :D

Finished off a 4RYL with the new bottom cube. It’s great and will follow up with a WT101 whilst I watch the smoker.

Not sure why, but I had an interesting thought when I read your post Frank. If we spent much time together with other folks here, you and I would have a helluva lot of fun, but we’d probably alienate ourselves from much of the group.

Woodford on the rocks out back in the shade and in front of the fan.  Hot here, today.  I become more impressed with every visit to the bottle, the first I’ve had in my bar in many years.  I’ve been enjoying Woodford on Delta flights for some time, but honestly chalked most of that up to the ”experience”.  But, I now realize that this is very good whiskey that has earned a spot on the bar going forward.

I've recovered from the initial 'shock' I experienced when I opened my Dickel BIB last week.  After recalibrating my nose and palate to the 'house note;)', I've found this to be a quite enjoyable.

It's really got some decent depth and complexity to it.  Much more so than what you'd expect in a $30 bottle.  And the finish!  :)

Jamestown? Probably only part of NY I’ve never been to. Been down the 90 through Erie on my way to Toledo for a job out of college. Been to Salamanca on my way to Bradford for my current job, heck been to the casino there and shot craps and played poker exclusively with guys 2.5 times my age. That area north of there in NY even has its own odd style of country music. I need to get to Jamestown one day.

Yup, you've got to give it a chance.  It's quite good.
