Also enjoying some WT 101 chilled after finishing some yard work.  Don’t let the bottle fool you.  I transfer some into 50ml bottles so I can enjoy a cold pour without committing to the whole bottle going in the freezer.

p.s.  When’s dinner??

DAMN!!!!!      That is a YHUGE Glencairn!   How much does that thing hold?  :o   Based upon this pic, it loox like it may hold about 1.5 liters.   I'm glad to see you don't have that much in it all at once though, KSJon.

HA!   Kidding, of course!   ?     I surmised after a few moments that the bottle must be exceedingly tiny, rather than the glass being THAT BIG.    ...Or... was my original impression correct?!?!?!????

SO!  Just finished watching the Ken Burns "Country Music" Episode One "1933" on PBS, and I'm settling in to watch a C-Span American History program on Norman Rockwell's "Four Freedoms" paintings.  Basic BT in the dregs of the Virgin Bourbon Old Fashioned I made for Happy Hour tonight.  Grilled burgers.

Think of it as the whiskey drinker’s answer to the giant red wine glass.  “I only have one glass a day!”?

I keep meaning to ask - what the heck do you do that has you in so many Delta Sky Clubs? You frequent them more than I do and I'm in them a lot.

On topic, I'll belatedly mention the double Woodford Reserve I had a week ago today during my flight home from San Francisco courtesy of the First Class upgrade.

I'm on the road (in the air) almost weekly-- so I know the Delta folks quite well. I'm the Creative Director for a Marketing/Advertising/Branding agency.

Finally!  we meet the guy who wrote the Templeton rye story.

BTEC Fire Pot Barrel Aged for a Monday.  Dryish and muted sweet notes, after a full-on hot Summertime rickhouse aroma on the nose.

Sbs ER10 and an ER10 PS. The PS has a very similar flavor as the stock barrel, but the PS just kicks it up a notch. I'll need to compare it to EHT SmB when I eventually open the one I've been sitting on.

Hmm, let's see here.  A guy who is the creative director for an advertising agency.  And, he's a big whiskey fan, often consuming at odd hours of the day and night.  And, he's widely known by a (screen)name that is different from his real name.

Wasn't there a popular TV show about you a few years ago??

A nose of freshly cooked caramel corn, funnel cake, and other sweet smells of the fair just burst from this bottle when I pulled the cork. I don’t remember that from when I first picked these up. The taste matches, but a touch less sweet and with more leathery notes.  Outstanding!

You seem to be hitting so if those bottles that have been opened for a few years. Did the “Handy Incident” at the cookout move you to action?

1792 High Rye continues to be my favorite expression from Barton and it's absolutely aligned with my palate these last few days.

It's routinely available here. Do you not have this in Houston?

Some time ago (like, after I read about "low rye" and "high rye" mash bills on SB), I typed "high rye" in the SB Search box and, with pencil and paper, made a list.  THEN, I trundled into a liquor store or six and checked their shelves.  NOW, it is second nature to recognize the labels.

Just tried a search.  Got 1500+ hits, and about 20 brand expressions appeared on the first page.  That doesn't mean they are all drinkable.:o

EDIT - Oh, yeah, on thread - what I drinking?  Just finished a basic BT (Saz/BT's "high" rye mash bill although compared to 4R's highs, it's pretty low).  THEN switched to, SURPRISE!, OGD BIB which is a Beam high rye mash bill, compared to JBW at least.

Sorry, the problem with quoted replies or replies from folks like me that aren’t more specific. I’m specifically looking for the 1792 high rye. If you found multiple search results for stores with this in Houston please help me out.

I just attended a tasting put on by Angel's Envy. I've had it multiple times, and I feel it's a nice introductory into the world of American whiskey. The ambassador kept saying "when you're smelling the bourbon" and "when you're tasting the bournon." And all I could think was "once this touched that port barrel it no longer was bourbon." Anyway, I'm now heading home to have a pour of something straight while I watch last night's ep 3 of Country Music.

Wow I realized I didn’t have any open Turkey for Turkey Thursday, just fixed that.

The Decades really is an exceptional bottle. Fantastic spice, perfect example of Turkey profile, maybe a hint of the old dusty in there. It states 10-20 years. You can taste the older stuff but done really, really well.

I bought it for $90 and wish I opened it earlier and bought a few more. If I see it again for that price I’m buying multiples. I think Turkey is my favorite distiller. There high end is great and available and there low end is great and available.

Wow...Fantastic price! I’m assuming the store got a deal from the distributors or they were trying clear out older inventory. The cheapest I’ve ever seen it in my area was around $125, and I thought I was getting a bargain since most stores in my area that still have it on the shelves have it priced at the original MSRP of $150.
