Mattk
That ri1 has apparently been on the back of the shelf since 2008. So I'm saving it for an eventual beam rye tasting. But the rabbit hole I've already cracked and am sipping as I type this.

Mattk
Tonight I'm having a sip of my daughter's birthday blend I made for her 4th birthday. It was equal parts copper fox original rye, a sp KC rye, and yellow lable lot 40. It really hits the spot after a steak and green beans meal. FasterHorses
Postedd in bourbon thread then remembered the rye board. Got ahead of myself. This is a tasty bottle. Not lifechanging but a very decent rye for 4 yr BP. Not sure if this will be an ongoing available bottle or not so i picked one up

Kepler
I drank bourbon most of the evening but finishing the night with Wild Turkey 101 Rye. It's always a good landing spot.
kcgumbohead
Not yet a purchase but apparently there will be another release of Balboa rye from NR. Once available purchasers have 60 days to pick up from the distillery. I won’t be anywhere near there anytime soon but having tried the Balboa I would love to get hold of one. I have some time to work out logistics so we’ll see what happens. Would be nice if they shipped to GA but they don’t ship anywhere. This whole system of shipping liquor needs recalibration, its asinine that there is a product I am interested in, it will be available and I would certainly purchase but something as simple as shipping is the impediment. FasterHorses
Spoke with Smooth Ambler. They are planning on the single barrel Ryes being a regular dustribution. Fyi. price is a bit high but isnt everything. Whereas i would have said piggyback was a hatd pass for repurchase.. id definitely recommend this viscous rye

Prior to prohibition, distillers mailed product directly to consumers, and offered prizes of different merchandise. An adult had to sign for the package when it was delivered. I don't know why we can't do that today, as long as applicable taxes are collected.

My only option at this point is befriending someone within driving distance of the distillery. I may need to take a cue from election season and mail out fliers introducing myself to everyone within reasonable commuting zipcodes to New Riff LOL!! PaulO
I'm spending some quality time with my old friend Ritttenhouse B.I.B. It seems quite bourbon like tonight, in a good way. So glad, local grocery store decided to start carrying this, and OGD.

Not just taxes but the deals that were made to get prohibition repealed that gave control of how alcohol to each state to screw up as they saw fit. Or unfit as the case may be. New Riff is in Tennessee now so that might save some driving. I think I recall hearing it will be in Georgia soon.

Biba! Joe I believe its about an 8 hr drive. I like it a lot don’t get me wrong but I am not doing a 16 hr round trip for a bottle of whiskey. It would have to be up and back as scheduling right now isn’t allowing any vacation type breaks so, it will find a way to ship to me or I will have to try again if they do a third release at some point. If they would hold it until April I could have made that work but its 60 days max. Edited September 27, 2020 by kcgumbohead

The is is my first bottle of this, so I am excited to see how it compares.

So I'm seeing a bunch of there posted recently. Is it really worth the buy? I did enjoy my Barrell rye which is believed to be sourced from them. But sits at 138 proof. Can I get some tasting notes? Thanks
