That's pretty much my experience with ER?

I'm really enjoying Eagle Rare a lot these days.  Of course, next to the cask strength Belle Meade, it's going to seem pretty light.  But I like to start off with a lower proof pour and "work my way up" and ER shines in that role, IMO.

I'll definitely come back to it. I'm newish. I had a Similar experience with WSR.

First time I tried I thought, "pardon, exactly what is this, booze, cough syrup, or laudanum?" :) I thought Weller might have teamed up with Vicks for a limited release Anise and Licorice expectorant.  But I pulled that same bottle out a few days ago and shocked myself.  It's still Anise and Licorice ---and I don't like either of those things--- but I had a complete 180 on WSR. I just dig it now in spite of characteristics on their own I don't care for.  In fact, I found 2 more bottles local @ $23! They came home.

I figured the older bottle might have  "bloomed" while it sat in my pantry, but the new bottles taste the same as the older, so there's that. All in the journey....

Back from Vacation. A couple (Blanton's) were bought right before vacation.   The Van Winkle was as already mentioned.. an unbelievable gift but enjoyed on the trip so I had to include it in the lineup. The RedSpot Irish Whiskeys are going to that friend when they arrive. . One of the Fitz is for a friend, One of the EC18s ($160) is for a friend, one of the HHBIB is for a friend. The 15+ year KC PS was the last one I picked up this afternoon. This is what happens when the family doesn't go with ya.  Oh I went back to get the FR19LE and the price had been increased to $250 from $219 so I had to pass. I guess I can't complain.

I know ER seems to have its' fans, many on this site.

I've tried it multiple times over the years, different barrels, when was $25 or less, and not hard to find.  It's just not in my wheel house.

You have nothing to apologize for. It's not for everyone.

Glad I'm not the only one that just doesn't care for ER.

Found these at 49.99 OTD. Excited to try them.

As others have noted, I too am a big fan.  State minimum price in MI is $79.99 + 6% tax.  I've never seen one in the wild for the state price, always at least $10 or more above.  I've also never seen one in the wild I haven't purchased.  In MI it's a hard find.

George Dickel 11yr Bottled in Bond.  Interested to see how it compares to the 13yr.  Also grabbed a 5yo MGP store pick Smooth Ambler Old Scout.  My first time trying SAOS bourbon but I liked the American whiskey they put out a couple of years ago.  Both purchased online from K&L.

Up in Tacoma, WA for the week for work. I told myself not to go into any stores because I didn’t have room in my suitcase. So last night at 9pm I stopped “JUST TO LOOK”. 4 bottles were sitting there just starring at me. 49.99 is a little mark up but I can’t get it in Clovis, NM so why not. I left one on the shelf for the next guy.

only complaint... WA has a 20.9% liquor tax. Guess they need it for rebuilding Seattle’s CHAZ/Chop whatever that crap was.

Wow, 20.9% would drive me to the 'what bourbon did you pass on' thread...

Sin taxes in Illinois are pretty bad. They’re worse in Washington.

Well that makes me appreciate our 5.75% in Ohio!

Or 0.0% in the People's Republic of Massacusetts!  The price you see on the shelf tag is the price you pay OTD.  ?

@parksmart, I believe you've had more luck at our mutual local Costco than anyone I know! Great find. Did they have many more of those?

There were 2.5 cases on the shelf.  Unfortunately, it was not at the Costco closest to you.

Made my first purchases in months today. Managed to grab 4 bottles of ECBP B520 and a bottle of New Riff Small Batch. Two of those go to a fellow SBer. I think the state is trying to pay for the shortfall from COVID at the Liquor store because they cost $60 a bottle now. That is a $10 increase from when we moved here almost 3 years ago. I noticed they jacked up the price of Knob Creek SB as well to $56 a bottle from $42 last month.

It hasn't been as rough as I would have imagined it would be to not stop, look and pick up something. But if these prices keep climbing, I will just drink more of the collection in the basement.

WA also has no state income tax, so they get their taxes through other means.  Great for residents, not useful for us non-residents unfortunately.

While I was taking my routine "just in case there's something new" walk down the whiskey aisle at Costco this morning, I spied some 1792 SmB. It's been quite a while since I sampled some and couldn't recall ever buying a bottle so I took a bottle home with me for around $28. I opened it up this afternoon and it's not at all bad at that price. Yeah, I could buy another if they keep it in stock.
