I opened one of my small collection of ET BIB.  This is really in my wheelhouse.  When B-F makes something I like, it checks all the boxes.

Yea, this is a great economical daily.  Too bad BT got their grubby meathooks into it; I fear it will be allocated sooner than later.

I got inspired to pour some ET BiB.  Fitting because it's a bit early, at least a bit before 5pm.  It's an early time if you will.  See what I did there?

I was so busy commenting on some of our ages, that I forgot to post what I was drinking. I must be getting old. ?

Anyway, it’s a BIB night tonight. Long story, which I won’t get in to. Hey, gimme a break! I’ve been pretty good about boring y’all with my long stories lately. Haven’t I?  Anyway, before the night is over, Old Tub, EW, JW Dant and JTS Brown BIB’s will have made their way into my glass tonight. ?

A rare mid week pour for me even though I have to work early in the morning.

George Dickel 13 yr BiB.   Sometimes I'm just in the mood for the minerality and nothing else but Dickel distillate quite works.  I thought about a Barrell store pick with GD in the blend, but went with the lower proof option instead.

Along with a pour from my mini barrel rye I had this to treat myself for finishing the second half of a full brake job on my truck last night.

I’m right there with you in this opinion.  That mineral and vitamin note just hits the right spot at times.  I always have the No 12 around and use it as a palate re-setter when my rotation of bourbons becomes stale to me.

Decided to do an A:B comparison last night between 2 Blantons.  One from 2010 and one from 2018.  The 2010 had more rye spice and a bit of smokiness while the 208 was much smoother and more cararmel.  I was  surprised that there was that much difference between the two bottles. I was expecting much less variation.  My wife also tasted these and agreed with this assessment.

A solid lineup of BIB bourbons.   I've got bottles of all except the JWD.  Anyway, back to the topic.  Last night was some OF Rye.

This is exactly how I enjoy Dickel, especially No. 12.

Good that she concurred.  ?

Yep,  she’s my wine drinker and has a better sense of smell and taste than I do. I burned out mine years ago from working in a microbiology lab. ?

A slight trip down memory lane, as I continue to work through bunkerville. Interesting that one EW Sib is vintage 1999 (barreled) and the other 2000, although both were bottled in 2009, only four months apart.

Boy, howdy, where to start - a short Campari and soda prior to dinner, a short Cantina Zaccagnini Multepulciano with dinner, several swallows of the dregs of some vattings (SEE "Pro Tips" for details) while making up new vattings of GW4G and SB blend.  Tapering off with Saz/BT/A.Smith Bowman (Virginia)'s Isaac Bowman 92 proof port barrel finish.  We already planned to sleep in tomorrow, so I took FULL advantage of the lack of obligatory chores tomorrow.

Double Old Forester Statesman at the Sky Club to get things rolling. It wasn't in the system so she rang it up as a nine-buck Woodford Reserve.

Continuing my inexplicable fascination with the House of Beam, I removed a Baker's from my car trunk earlier this PM.  I shall open it and begin pouring when I finish typing this QUESTION - Has anybody EVER seen a batch number on a Baker's 107/7YR other than B-90-001?  I got curious because a really dusty Baker's I pulled from my in-house bunker earlier this month carried that number, and so did this one even though purchased last week.  SO, I did an internet search and found reviews of Baker's dating back to mid-2006 mentioning this batch number but no other.

Pretty damn big batch.  The tun holding it must be the size of a crude oil storage tank.  BTW, MSRP in June 2006 was $35.  The car trunk one was just under $50 IIRC.

Parksmart’s empty bottle post from earlier this week got me a hankerin’ for this under appreciated whiskey. So I picked up a liter.  For $15, what a fine, unpretentious, solidly made, whiskey.  The finish in particular shows very well.

Enjoying a small pour of CEHT BP while relaxing in a cabin just outside of Helen after a busy first day of vacation.   This is one of my favorite places here in Ga, and October is the best time to be here.

Love that part of the country!  Great hiking and you have to love Helen for Oktoberfest!?

Was just thinking of Helen.  Littlesmokinjoe’s birthday is in October, so we would always book a long weekend in a cabin when she was younger.  Had a good 10 year run.  Carriage rides, hikes, Betty’s (coolest store ever), day trips to Dahlonega to pan for gold, and Burt’s Pumpkin Farm for the Hayride and our Halloween pumpkin.  Many very nice cabins.  Hoping to get back next year.
